Hey guys. I've always liked doodling and what not as a kid, but my drawings were never the best. To this day, my art skills are that of a 5th grader. I want to improve my skills, but I can't afford any lessons nor can I find any decent guides on the internet.

Anyone got any tips/decent guides for me?

I don't do much drawing, but I've done other artistic stuff. It seems like the best way to get better is to just make something, get some honest critique, then make something else, get critique for that, and so on.

Do you have impatience? That's usually what happens. Pick something you absolutely want to draw and try to visualize it. Once you have it visualized, start sketching lightly and adding details (you will have to do some erasing unless you have a gift of perfect planning).

I wish I had the skills of a fifth grader. I can barely draw a good stick man.

check your local library for some simple drawing books or something.
other than that, just keep at it. draw what you like, and you will eventually get better at drawing it
