I really don't want to start a religious shit storm, i just want advice.

So i'm atheist, like almost everyone on the internet, but i grew up in a very christian background. I want to stay close to my family, but i also don't want to live a lie for the rest of my life. They're accepting about most things, but i don't know if they'll accept this.

tl;dr How to tell your religious parents you're atheist without them hating you forever?

start it off by picking which parent is most understanding, ask them if you can tell then something that you haven't told anyone and make them PROMISE not to judge your and to be supportive of you even after you say it. once you got 1 parent to support you tell them you want their support when you tell the other and make the other absolutely PROMISE to support and love you even after. If either of them start raging, ask them how they expect their child to live and make it in this world when his/her PARENTS don't even believe in them, etc.. once you got their support still respect their shit, but don't let them shove it down your throat
