That's not the tragic part, the tragic part is that having a degree is still better off in the long run compared to not getting one. That's not to try and overplay going to college, it's to note how generally ****** it'd be not to get a degree in at least SOMETHING.

"Hordor, but I dropped out of High School and became the CEO of Google!"

You know who that happens to? The CEO of google. You know who it doesn't happen to? Literally everyone else.

How I got into Uni in 2013 - Got good grades

How I paid for it - Student loan and family support

How I'll use my degree - working as a professional in the job I'm being trained to do. I've already received a job offer from the school I did my experience at.

Very different in the UK

How to get into college in 1983: Get good grades
How to get into college in 2013: Pff, whatever, we take everyone on this ******** course, we won't kick you out if you don't turn up to any lectures, just get drunk and have fun.

How to pay for college in 1983: Paid for by the government from tax money, which will then be put back into the system by those who have been well educated and earned good jobs.
How to pay for college in 2013: Have to take out a crippling, possibly privatised loan, made necessary by all the money wasted on people taking government loans and grants on ******** courses, who will then not get a good enough job to give back to the system.

I got mainly B's and C's in community college, and yet I was able to transfer into a university. Its not that expensive (about $12,000 per year) so I'm paying with minimal loans and also by using the GET program. Also, I'm double majoring in computer engineering and computer science as well as getting a minor in math, thus I have a pretty wide selection of jobs I could strive for. The problem is that people major in **** where the only thing they could do with a degree is teach and they think that in order to get a good job, they have to go to an ivy league school.

Havea B.S. in chemistry, I've been out for two years and am working as a pizza delivery driver, I'm saving money to get a master's in forensics.

FYI master's are the degrees of 20 years ago. PHD's are still PHD's unless it's psychiatry or theoretical anything.
