That isn't lifting, that is crossfit.
Crossfit is basically the scientology of the fitness world. They are obnoxious and ravenously defend their viewpoints, but everyone else doesn't take them serious and laughs at them.
That lift is a low amount of weight(bumper plates lol) without any should engagement(holding that weight static is just damaging to the shoulders by forcing them to take the jumps impact), and it isnt enough weight to actually work the legs.
Crossfit essentially takes a fundamentally anaerobic style of exercise(lifting) and forces it to be an aerobic exercise(a sub optimal aerobic exercise at that).
People are also under the false impression that they are gaining muscle by doing crossfit, they aren't. They are losing fat(slower than standard cardio routines) and as a result of fat loss people get the optical illusion of muscle gain simply because their muscles are becoming more visible.

Just want to say quickly that this isn't something taught or supported by any Crossfit trainer. This definitely looks dangerous and I'm not agreeing with it, I just don't want people to have a negative view of Crossfit because of one guy.
