Here is the problem with Adam and Eve. Temptation is considered a sin and eve was supposed to be considered pure and innocent right? Why would she have felt the temptation of eating an apple if it was impossible for her to commit sin before eating the apple?

I've always read it as they were perfectly capable of sin before eating the fruit. Eating it just made them aware that they were capable of sin and what sin was. That's why it was called the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. To add to that, they were both naked before eating the fruit, but afterwards thought "Oh ****! Gotta cover our junk up!"

There is an idea at least in Biblical Law that someone is only punished for doing what they know is wrong, and after eating the fruit they understood sin and could now be punished for it.

i am not taking a stance either way but i do feel that the way the bible mentions the fruit of knowledge they are in capable of sin because of their innocence. So i agree with you there but she should have not been able to have felt temptation until after she had knowledge and was able to sin.

temptation is a sin. "lead us not into temptation". The bible specifically cites temptation as a sin. She knew not to eat the apple but she was tempted into it.

I'm saying because you don't actually know what temptation is, that you can still be tempted. Think about children. They don't know what temptation, but can they still be tempted?

1. Of course children have sin, but it doesn't mean they acknowledge the sin they are doing. They won't know of temptation at a very young age. Neither would Eve.
2. The only one being an ignorant dick here is you. All you've done it sidestep the questions I've posed, giving no direct answer. My last question on children was rhetorical.
3. Lawlz 1'm s0 med. It takes a lot more than this to make me angry.

I'll go off of your comments to the others, these being what I actually was replying to and such.
Your original comment:
1. Temptation itself is not a sin. Sin occurs when we misuse temptation.
2. Adam and Eve(from my recollection) were both able to sin, they just didn't know of sin, itself. Again, going back to the children. Children most definitely can sin, but they don't know that they're doing it. Whether they are to young to understand or haven't been told of it.

Here is a ****** up example for my first part, but I feel like it will get the point across. I could feel tempted to kill someone. But it's the fact of actually acting upon my temptation to kill that someone, that is when it will become sin.

I see what you are saying. However, it doesn't actually say they were innocent people. The Talmud actually has some interesting stories from that time about Adam having another wife who was basically a rapist.

how did another woman besides eve exist before she ate the apple? I was raised in a southern baptist society, went to catholic school for 12 years, questioned everything since 5th grade and was considered a nuisance at school because i asked "questions that doubted god" and i ended up atheist with a very bad taste in my mouth for religion and the bible as a whole.

I was always told though that the only people on earth were adam and eve until they had kids and etc.

Just thought i'd give you my religious background to show why i may be ignorant in some sections of this discussion

I completely understand that background. I was raised almost the same way and that is why I left the church, but I still consider myself religious. I personally feel you have every right to ask questions and have a problem with any religion that is against asking questions. If you don't ask question how will you have answers? For the record, I have no problems with your view points. I just really enjoy discussing these sort of things.

Things like that are in text that Christians don't read for whatever reason. The collection is the Talmud which is composed of the Mishnah and the Germorah. It is basically the Israelites writing down everything they learned from Moses and debating. They talk about all sort of things form that time like fallen Angels populating the Earth, and Adam having two wives before Eve. The text range from practical like what is the "work" to avoid on the Sabbath to just weird like how Noah invited farming because he was the first human to have fingers.

I don't think she ever had a name. Adam saw her being made from the Earth like he was and freaked out cause it was so gross seeing the her insides form and what not. She taking away almost immediately. That's why he was put to sleep and a part of him was used to make Eve. That way he couldn't see her being made and already had some sort of an attachment.
