Did it taste sweet?
User avatar #6 to #5 - spookyexplain ONLINE (12/16/2015) [-]
nah just kind of like gas. i live in macomb so i dont think i get the same water supply
User avatar #7 to #6 - vorarephilia [OP] (12/16/2015) [-]
well that is good. if it tastes sweet it might contain lead salts. If by gas you mean the natural gas sulfur smell in the water probably means it contains sulfates and/or hydrogen sulfide. those are common in ground water. If by gas you mean gasoline, that is probably not good.

I don't live anywhere near there and I still don't drink tap water. It's got a grey color, it tastes like dirt and I swear it fizzed once, like soda.

You wouldn't happen to live near a fracking site would you? If you draw from groundwater it sounds like you might have natural gas leaking into your aquifers.

I get my water from the Mississippi river. The only thing in my town is a grain elevator so we get a lot of barges coming through here.

This is what happens when you vote in right wing ideologues to run your government.

#9 - verycoolcat (12/16/2015) [-]
Stick with bottled? I know thats all I drink.
User avatar #15 to #9 - arkis ONLINE (12/16/2015) [-]
Hate to break it to you but most bottled water, is tap water in a bottle, tap from your own state at that as it allows lower regulations ( assuming you are in the US and thats why you're worried about tap water and yet still have an internet connection )
#17 to #15 - verycoolcat (12/16/2015) [-]
Most are bottled not in the same locale. I.e. Nestle bottled waters are made in California. Marketers discovered that it 'tasted' better when from a further away locale and was purified to remove contaminants.

Also since bottled water is a consumable product, it is up to scrutiny by the FDA and they have requirements to be regularly checked.
User avatar #16 to #15 - warioteam (12/16/2015) [-]
that may be so but i like the taste of it better
i have a purifier but it doesnt make it taste how i like it
plus its just more convienent, especially when biking

In my city (Winnipeg), our tap water is occasionally brown and smelly. The city says it is harmless and it's just "biofilm". Basically the **** the built up lining the pipes over years of use is coming off. ******* disgusting. I don't use tap water for anything but laundry, and all that goes through a filter. If it's particularly bad that day I won't do my laundry. It will actually stain white clothes.
