I also think the site and its community are retarded. Especially the basement dweller who posts info as content rather than a notification, so that he can gain the attention his mother didnțt provide.

I am Romanian, we have some extra characters: ăîâșț. Working on Windows so they are mapped on other keys if you choose RO as a language. In this case the "ț" is where the " ' " is and I accidentally had the Romanian keyboard activated

Random question, what the **** is this an how do I fix it?

According to Ars Technica, key FunnyJunk personnel are Bryan Durel and Benjamin Bunker. I wonder which one is our beloved admin?

Well then. I knew about initial Oatmeal stuff, just not what followed. Learn something new everyday. Thanks for the link

Personally, I'm broke at the moment. Also, I think some tools could be implemented to decrease the server cost:

A tool similar to the one used by xkcd and 4chan /r9k/ where in when content is uploaded a quick scan for the website's content is done to find out if the content has been uploaded before or not. While it would not completely remove "reposts" it would lower the number. And potentially it could function in a way that if two identical pictures have been found they share the same file.

Another thing could be for old material with a thumbing rate underneath a certain threshold (I'm thinking stuff with a large number of red thumbs) would automatically be deleted after a certain amount of time if the content has not been viewed by anyone.

But I don't think Admin will implement these features for various reasons.

It was that whole dispute when the Oatmeal and FJ got into it about content rights. I don't know much about it, but I know that a party affiliated with funnyjunk sued Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal) and the company that hosted his fundraiser for The National Wildlife Foundation and the American Cancer Society, and in turn, those charities were also sued. Here's a link with more information: www.popehat.com/2012/06/17/the-oatmeal-v-funnyjunk-part-iv-charles-carreon-sues-everybody/

If you think Funnyjunk has a bad community, you should go on Reddit and sort comments by "new".

Long story short:
There is this "web comic" called The Oatmeal, people kept uploading his works on FunnyJunk and since he is an independent artist he filed a cease and desist order.

Admin decided to feign defeat and enforced an unspoken rule "No The Oatmeal" (along with "Cyanide & Happiness").

A while later The Oatmeal was contacted by a lawyer on behalf of admin, who claimed that The Oatmeal had made defamatory statements regarding FunnyJunk, and wanted him to pay 20.000$ in compensations for the damages done by this remark.

The Oatmeal decided to raise the money, with the intend to give it to a charity, just so he could show the lawyer and admin that he was perfectly able to get the money, but didn't agree with his obligation to pay them (thus indirectly stating: "Then take me to court.").

He raised the money within an hour (thanks to donations from his readers), and uploaded a picture of the money onto his blog along with a picture of the lawyer's(!!) mother having sex with a bear.

The lawyer then decided it got personal and decided to sue The Oatmeal. Whenever or not he spoke with admin about that, I don't know.

I'm not 100% sure of all the info, it was some time ago, but from what I remember:

Tried to sue the website Oatmeal. Oatmeal raised the money that Funnyjunk was suing for and gave it to charity. Funnyjunk's lawyer (with no permission from Funnyjunk) tried to sue the charity.
