For FFXIV but that game seems to be better about go in and play for an hour, where WoW I'd be doing **** all day just to prep for raiding. God damn it was still hard to finally stop playing. Thank god the raiding scheme got boring for me, that game was devouring my life.
naga don't have legs
armor would be ****** .
murlocks.... they'd have worse clipping issues than tauren and worgen put together.
they were so lazy they literally just retextured the night-elf male model for the jinju.
just bcuz they dont have legs doesnt mean they cant have something in the lower body slot, y'know, like instead of pants you simply cover a part of your tail in the equiped item and instead of boots you equip a tail tip, so i imagine that would look pretty cool.
yes, but that would mean that blizzard would have to make a whole new texture/model for every single piece of leg armor in the game, aswell as making 2 versions of every armor put in the game from then on out.
it is just not realistic or logical to do from a creation/production point of view.
sure, naga would be cool, but if you were a game designer, would you really want to have to make 2 versions of an entire item class just to put one specific race as playable?
No they wouldn't. The meshes for the equipment (with the exception of weapons and shields) in World of Warcraft are a part of the character models. The item tells the character model which geoset it would like to be applied to, and the character model changes accordingly. I guess all the equipment that shares the same visual mesh utilizes the same UV map, as I highly doubt they have gone back and unwrapped all the old textures from vanilla and up, when they introduced worgen/goblin, and remade the other races.
To reiterate the item visual for a robe is a texture, and something that says "Hey I should be applied as a robe by the way". And the character uses the robe mesh. All you would have to do is decide how you would like the character model to use certain types of items, such as robes.
yes i know
the problem is: naga don't have 2 feet, all other races do.
everything that isn't a robe, would look split in the middle, and i haven't a ******* clue how they'd make robes work, since the texture is made to be engulfing, while that would not work on a naga.
there's also feet, what do you do with feet textures? make it so it only applies one of the feet? or do you have a stretched double boot texture on the tip of the tail? where does the sole go?
i am fully aware that all the meshes are just stretched onto the character models, but there's a distinctive difference between naga and everything else: the leg textures don't fit them: because they don't have 2 feet, they have 1 tail.
the image you posted looks halfway ok, but that's among the least noticable sets, since it's so dark. brighter more detailed sets would just end up looking like the naga had a weirdly coloured, really huge vagina on front.
You realize multiple races already have different textures/models for slots such as helm and feet? And the amount of effort and resources it would take is nearly irrelevant. WoW is a huge game, and people who say they wont change the way armor works to fit one race (naga) are the same people who said "They will never remake Kalimdor. And the quests? You can ******* forget about that. Going though each and every quest in the game is too much work for Blizzard."
WoW is a multi-million dollar game. If you can think of something in the game to be changed they CAN do it.
>>#74, 2 legs vs 1 tail
2 leg textures can be applied to differently shaped creatures with 2 legs, not to 1 tailed creatures. that's why i never brought up legs as an issue on the facless issue, but there it's rather a problem of not being able to hold weapons because of their tentacle hands, and not being able to wear headpieces, because of their lack of face.
Honestly there are plenty of item slots in WoW that did not display visually at all, like trinkets and rings. I really wouldn't care that much if boots and legs I do actually believe the naga model did support a visual leg slot, not too well though were just another 'stat' slot.
I'm not sure about Murlocs.. clipping issues? I mean assuming they wanted to make it a playable race I couldn't imagine that they wouldn't create a new model. That being said WoW is basically a game where everyone clips through everything anyway.
Gathering what I can from my memory of the Warcraft 3 neutral creeps there were plenty of other cool races like as well like the Furbolg, Gnoll, Ogre, Neurubian, Kobold, Satyr, Faceless Even those ******* Lizardmen in MoP were way cooler than Pandarens
Mist of Pandaria were like one of those filler episodes in a show, you just know leads no where.
The plot is going from A to B, and then some stupid complication arises out of no where, Most likely in the shape of some poor sod the main character(s) are morally obliged to help, so they suspend their journey. with new characters you don't care about, in a predictable plot you know will be resolved in the 30 minute episode is going to last, and then it'll never be relevant to the story again.
furbolg, gnoll and kobold are sub-human, they are not intelligent enough in lore to justify a playable race.
nor are ogres generally, but they have exceptions, though with ogres the issue comes more from their size and body shape.
faceless are direct minions to the old gods, thus not playable
satyr are demons, thus not playable
nerubains would be a race where no equipment currently in the game, would fit.
the lizardmen in MoP are called saurok, they're subhuman, but were created for MoP, so their lore could have been made so that they could be playable, but it was chosen not to be.
I don't really see how being a servant of the Old gods or Demon is a reason that they couldn't be playable. Blizzards keeps pulling these cop outs anyway in regards to who is "really evil" in the story. Remember when we played the evil scourge in WC3? Then we played the Forsaken, not as evil, but they still pretty ruthless. Then the Forsaken got split into the "EVIL forsaken" with Varimathras in a convenient story where he acted exactly as you'd think the Forsaken would except that he is also trying to usurp the throne. Some foresight that required when he helped Sylvannas wreck **** in Lordaeron, and killed his brothers. *cough* Talk about creating a plot designed for the Alliance
I don't think a splinter group of faceless nor demons would be that hard to pull for the Blizzard writing staff.
Illidan was a demon influenced night elf like the satyrs and displayed both intelligence and a moral code, as well as free will.
Also I'm not really sure I follow the logic behind their intelligence being the factor as to whether or not they would make a good playable race. Most of them seem developed enough to have tribal societies, which would make it likely that they have a shared language. And I'm pretty sure the fantastical universe of Warcraft could find a way to justify them being able to operate a backpack and count copper coins as well.
ok then,
faclesss are out regardless due to body shape.
they don't even have hands, just tentacles, and they don't really have a face, just tentacles there aswell, thus the name.
they're out from being servants of the old gods still, but even if you had a point, faceless would be unplayable.
the satyr are out because they're demons.
there has never in lore been a good demon.
undead are understandable, because undead follow the will of whomever controls them, so if the one controlling them is good, then hey, the undead are good.
how the forsaken work, is basically that the person that died is still in control, though with slight amnesia.
the scourge was evil because it was led by the lich king.
demons are servants of the legion
demons can be enslaved, but unlike the undead, they still retain free will of sorts, and it is very obvious from the demons of warlocks, that they, even when serving a good person, are evil as **** .
demons are under the control of the legion, and are by the way not beings of flesh like the other races, but rather a form of mana creature. (thus the blood-elf facination with them)
demons are basically a cult, but without the ability to leave it. they all both willingly and forcefully serve the legion, and they are all fully willing to give their life for the legion.
making any kind of demon a playable race makes about as much sense as making an elemental a playable race.
they're not humanoids, they're not free-willed. they have their own mind, but their will is the will of the legion. they hold nearly no ability to betray it. (with the exception of under torture and death-threaths, and even then only the more intelligent demons, such as observers and dread-lords)
most demons are not that intelligent. most demons are beastlike or sub-human grunts. and the satyr are scarce and powerfull beings.
Man you and me both.
i dont mind the pandaren but i mean there are so many other options that would be more awesome, personally i really want the vrykul and tuskar to become races to play for their respective factions.
I suppouse for themes sake it may of missed the boat but if we ever get a south seas expansion it be the perfect chance to introduce these sea fairing races into the game more then ever.
It won 5 millions at launch tho.
Botter and goldfarmer left because of the wow coin, and since the wow coin excist, some people wuit their subscription, since... well, they can play via coin now.
Never really got a chance to dive hardcore into PvE growing up since I had a **** computer At best I'd get 10fps anywhere at any given time. , and now that I have a decent computer I don't have a strong urge to raid. However, I wouldn't mind trying it if it were a bit on the casual Sue me. side though. When I say casual I don't mean LFR, I mean 10m or 25m.
What have I been doing for the past four almost five years since since getting a better pc you ask? Simple, slowly mastering the art of altaholics.
Well i know that feeling, truth be told being a raider at the mid expansion is rather hard if you have never had a decent person to work with. Iv had raid leaders go from being complete ass hats yelling their heads off at every little thing to men who could talk the venom out of a snake because of sheer charisma and balls of steel.
Tonight I left early because I have an interview tomorrow at a job that pays way more than this one ever could. I told him I was tired. But I actually have to bring my resume up to date. I had to leave someone there to close alone and I kinda feel like a dick.
you can play online without a sub but you have the limitations of a free account. if you have enough gold you can buy those wow tokens for a month of game time. i dont know what the price is currently but it fluctuates between 21k- 26k depending on the day of week and time of day
aah okay then. well, even with your limitations theres gotta be some guide out there to help get you on your feet. professions and playing the AH game most likely, i think
Yeah. Also would help if I could have a reliable paycheck. Job hunting is not fun for anyone. I did have that mod that lets you see what the average price for items are for the AH. But I need to update it.
Is it because people's friends play it? Not because of the actual gameplay? Makes sense because of the 2 14-day trials in every WoW game. I mean, I think I would rather play Halo 5 over WoW. Maybe.
