I've been loving it so far. It's pretty mindless like CoD if you make it that way, but if you try a little harder you can have a lot of fun and do very well. You only get out what you put into it. I personally think it would be a 9/10 if they had never named it Battlefront, because as a generic Star Wars FPS it's almost perfect so far. However, there are some flaws. In terms of balance, while it never comes down to win/lose situations there are some vehicles that are annoyingly tougher than others such as the AT-ST, but EA has already patched balance stuff once and will continue to do so. It also seems like it might start to get repetitive soon, but EA is about to release two free maps plus a new mode, and they said they will continue to do so. Yes, it is very good. Anyone who says it's just like Battlefield has never either never played this or never played Battlefield.
Is it fun? Yes i thought it was awesome to play. Is it worth the $60 price tag? No, there is not even remotely enough content to warrant the price. I'd wait till they eventually release it with all the expansions included in like 7 months.
I guess what you can gather from the "it's like Battlefield" vs. "it's like CoD" etc. below is that it's just a ******* shooter with a Star Wars skin and not worth giving EA your shekels for.
The thing is that it's a shooter so shallow and poorly balanced that it's far worse than both of those games. The graphics are fantastic... but the gameplay is terrible.
There are even three mid-tier upgrades that make other players literally have better stats than you. Literally! It's nothing but a direct upgrade and it has to be unlocked. That's an enormous misstep!
I got it from RedBox and honestly it's pretty great. What it lacks in campaign or conquest mode it makes up for in variety of game types. My favorite game type is Supremacy which is a 20 v 20 fight featuring multiple maps put together along with heroes, vehicles and fighter's such as the Tie Fighter and Interdictor for the Empire and the X-Wing, A-Wing and Landspeeder for the rebels.
The gameplay is repetitive I will admit but it's also that give and pull of not only massive warfare which forces taking and losing territory but the sheer size that I've been enamored with. I actually feel like I'm on Hoth or Yavin when playing rather than inside of a limited arena. The weapon's are limited in number but each is it's own work of art and I must say that this is the only game where I actually love to just hear the sound effects of the gun shooting. Although I am not to happy with how easy it is to die, but that's only because I die a lot.
No, there are many more than four maps. There are four large maps, but like 9 (someone correct me on the real number) other maps for the more CQC modes, which I actually find to be really enjoyable.
Ill give it to you straight which youre probably not heh, I make joke. but srs because I'm not big on giving money to EA that is undeserved, I hired it for 3 days. After playing it for a good 15 hours, I feel its not worth the money they're looking for. Don't get me wrong, it is fun for the first part because everything is new and youre in awe aw at how good it all looks, but the lack of content isn't worth it. The main game mode is walker assault and there is only 4 maps so far for regulars. You'll see everything the game has to offer within a week as there is no re-playability. In the time I played I got to level 20 and there are no more weapons after 25 (11 weapons in total).
Seems as if you need to wait for the very last dlc to come out to play a full games worth. That'd be in a year.
Some improvement to the existing factions (better unlockable units etc...) + you can play as the Old Republic and Sith empire now, and a whole new range of new maps!
Don't bother, it's just a reskin of Battlefield 4.
Which, by the way, you can get for $5 on Xbone if you have one. By subscribing to EA Access for $5 a month and getting it and a bunch of other games like Titanfall for free.
No, ask anyone who's played both; it's the same engine, same gameplay, same mechanics, everything.
Literally all they had to do is slow down all the bullets a bit more and turn them red.
Battlefront is nothing more than Battlefield 4 with a Star Wars paint job.
I've played Battlefield since IDK 2009 maybe.
Battlefront plays out NOTHING like BF, the gunplay is as different as it can be in a shooter. The mechanics and the pacing and balance are like night and day.
They are both arcade-i but Battlefield is like a fast paced combined arms game while battlefront is like a teab based arena shooter.
No bullet drop
Third person view
No aiming down sights
No vehicles on map
No destructibility
No classes
Power pick ups
No classes
No squads
No 32v32
No large maps
No maps with alternate routes
No base spawning
No levelution
No campaign
No Squad Spawning
No callouts
No reviving
There's no bullet drop in battlefront because most of the weapons are all particle weapon based, you know, like in star wars. And there is third person view, just press down the D-PAD. And technically there is ADS, with scoped weapons.
It'd have squads, pre-spawned vehicles, and squad spawning if it were a reskin. This coming from someone who's played literally every battlefield game after 1943
I've got 200 or so hours in BF4 and I just played Battlefront a couple days ago and my god, it IS, in fact, just like BF4. It plays exactly the same except that there's way less variety in the gameplay. Spawn with a blaster that's either fast firing and weak, slow firing and strong, or pretty meh in general, get 1-3 kills, die, and do it again. At least in BF4 there are many kinds of vehicles and specific soldier classes, each with their strengths and weaknesses. There's this awesome sense of "purpose" in BF4, that Battlefront doesn't have. It's like you know what you're supposed to do, what you can do, and what you can't. You do your role to the best of your ability and you help your team win. Those roles go behind soldier classes too. Each vehicle, and to an extent, each weapon, has it's own purpose, and can help your team win in its own way. Battlefront is a conglomerate of mediocre gameplay and team play.
You don't deserve the thumbs down, it straight up feels like Battlefield and I haven't played it since BF3. The recoil, weapon switching animations, kinetic weapons sounds, aiming, ect. They switched around all the mechanics, but the way it controls and feels is classic BF.
***** i've played battlefield since the first one came out and the only thing similar about this game is the text that scrolls accross your screen when you kill someone. and if that's all it takes to make a game "reskinned" then every game in existence is just reskinned.
this is just an excuse for using your brain. It's not JUST a reskin. Yes, it uses the same engine and has visually similar graphics but that''s about where it ends and that DOES'T EVEN ANSWER THE OP'S QUESTION. Your just being an ass for whatever reason that nobody cares about.
Yes, it is a good game because it is fun and it qualifies as a positive star wars experience and that means something to me
The $30 for a year is undeniably better, it's quite literally half price for the same service
I'm actually rather happy with it honestly. I like the Vault lineup, it got me into Dragon Age which I previously hated but learned to love. Also it meant I didn't have to pay $40 for Hardline, I didn't even use all of my 10 hour demo on it but I still beat it and tried multiplayer
You like fancy graphics? You like amazing sound design? You like medium-scale PvP combat? Then screw every other game out there, because this game is like literally jumping into a Star Wars battle, with a decent amount of players to shoot in the face.
You like variety in gameplay? You like everything about Battlefront 1 and 2? You like balanced games? Then you should avoid it like the plague. Forget this even exists, and pretend that Disney had all productions of a new Battlefront game completely shut down. In fact, here. I'll just neuralyze you.
Its a ton different that battlefront II. there are a ton of remnants from battlefield, but It does feel like an awesome star wars caliber battle, with all of the aircraft, tech, and land vehicles. In my own opinion, its really fun at first. awesome immersion. But it isn't something i can see myself playing for more than a couple days. There's no competitive draw like in Halo or many other games for that matter. You should rent it! renting is underrated.
In a nutshell its a JRPG that has pixel art style graphics, the plot is that you fell down a hole into an area called the Underground, a place sealed off by a barrier placed by the human over a millenium ago, the barrier was to trap all the monsters in the underground, you meet friends and foes, you can choose to kill everyone in your way, or spare them showing not all humans are bad. Every boss enemy/enemy in the game can be befriended or killed, and it has multiple endings, its a very story driven game and knows how to play your emotions pretty well, comedy, feels, etc.
My personal stats:
9/10 music, 1 of my favorite soundtracks of any game, some examples:
7/10 gameplay, You mainly dodge your enemies bullets, i would describe it as kind of a bullet hell, you have options to Fight, Act, aka do something with an enemy like talk, hug, threaten etc., Item, you can equip different items in your armor and weapons slots, as well as use different healing items, then theres Mercy, you can spare a monster, which means you wont fight them, and if you make them like you through act commands, then it will turn yellow, meaning you can spare them, you can also flee from a fight.
8/10 story Alot of twists in the game that are easy to spoil, but if you dont see them coming are really fantastic, the story will seem linear at the start, but as you go through the game you'll realize its alot more complicated than meets the eye.
Graphics, hard to say, theyre mainly pixel art, idk how to describe other than retro feeling
Characters, 8.5/10 I really liked the characters in this game, they had such strong and loveable personalities, they're also pretty funny, better than about 75% of the games out there.
Over all i would say Undertale pretty much lived up to the hype, I don't even like JRPG games and i loved it.
Depends.
The title looks pretty, I'll give it that, but the lack of end game and no galatic conquest kills my hard on. Not to mention the map sizes and things being on rails.
Probably good for filling the urge to shoot something - like a light snack for lunch. Filling for now but you'll want more later.
that is actually how bad i am with shooting games. can someone give me tips for gaming accuracy? sometimes my thumbs just dont like to work fast enough or the toggle doesnt move
Don't put your corsshair ahead of them and expect them to walk into your aim.
You actually do have to aim with moving targets. Strafing helps too, but the movement of the crosshair is more essential than anything.
If you can't do this then good luck playing good in any fps.
from a guy who played competitive halo for awhile, I will try to give you some good advice. For one, what kind of monitor/T.V. are you playing on? any monitor with too much input lag will kill you shot.
secondly, find a sensitivity and stick with it. there's never a "best sensitivity" but higher sensitivities do provide slight advantages.
3rd. time your stick movements with your right trigger pulls. You dont have to constantly have your crosshair on the target. be patient, and time your pulls with your right stick, in unison. If you move your right stick before you shoot, you will be ahead your target. If you shoot before you move your stick, you will be behind.
4TH AND MOST IMPORTANT
BEING A PERFECT SHOT DOES NOT MAKE A PLAYER GOOD it does help though! FIELD POSITION FIELD POSITION FIELD POSITION
set yourself up for kills, and to stay alive. Always have an "out" route if things get hairy. you don't die when your health gets to 0, you die by setting yourself up in bad positions, in the moments leading up to your death. If you put yourself in the middle of a field, with people behind trees shooting at you, you should ALWAYS lose that fight.
CRT, good choice my friend zero lag there. I would say if your working on your shot, try the thumb stick+right trigger unison thing the most. and be patient. I get hyped up and think that I can somehow shoot more bullets than other players if I get excited, but you are one soldier, with one gun, that shoots the same speed as everybody else.
Buy a good mouse.
I use the Razer Abyssus. The cheapest one they have, but it is superior to any mouse I had previously...
you do need to get used to it a bit.
Also, get a good mouse pad.
Ill be honest, its sort of in the middle of good and bad.
Personally i couldnt play it over and over for hours on end, but if you portion the amount of time playing it you shouldnt get too bored.
Its more arcade-shooter-like then games like battlefield, cod, etc, but its definitely worth just booting up every now and then to have some fun. (though i mainly play the deathmatch mode, maybe its different in the other gametypes)
The game has superb graphics and sound design... but lacks in every other feature aside from connectivity. If you have the chance, rent it before you buy it. There's also a DLC plan underway that will add content that the game sorely lacks over the course of a year.
It's hard for me to describe how this game falls flat. The gunplay, the 4 maps, the gun balance, the spawns, the heroes, the vehicles, the team balance. I care about this so if you ask I'll explain it in text with my own words but otherwise here are two videos I've seen that do an alright job. My knowledge of the game comes from other sources so I can probably pick up where they lack if you have a question.
as I said a bit earlier, If you enjoy some casual rooty tooty shooty (not a bad thing) its really good. amazing immersion... it just feels like start wars. But there's no competitive draw, which really kills the replay-ability for me
On the flipside of what remsaman said, to me it's got loads of replayability. Since launch, I've thrown in 61 hours, and I'll play for 4+ hours at a time.
