I know its from a different book. but it already seems like it was paraphrased from Rudyard Kipling's "Law of the Jungle" poem. it states the laws of the wolf saying the semi-famous lines "The strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the pack is the wolf" then goes on to cover all of those points made using different poetic language, i sorta assumed you yourself paraphrased Kipling's instead.

For those who like me never read it:

The Law for the Wolves

"NOW this is the law of the jungle, as old and as true as the sky,
And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.

As the creeper that girdles the tree trunk, the law runneth forward and back;
For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack.

Wash daily from nose tip to tail tip; drink deeply, but never too deep;
And remember the night is for hunting and forget not the day is for sleep.

The jackal may follow the tiger, but, cub, when thy whiskers are grown,
Remember the wolf is a hunter—go forth and get food of thy own.

Keep peace with the lords of the jungle, the tiger, the panther, the bear;
And trouble not Hathi the Silent, and mock not the boar in his lair.

When pack meets with pack in the jungle, and neither will go from the trail,
Lie down till the leaders have spoken; it may be fair words shall prevail.

When ye fight with a wolf of the pack ye must fight him alone and afar,
Lest others take part in the quarrel and the pack is diminished by war.

—Rudyard Kipling

As someone who lives close to actual wolves, let me improve it a bit.

1: Hunt and kill as many as possible if they can't escape. Doesn't matter if they are alive or not when you start to eat on their guts as long as they can't get away.
2: Always buck for position in the pack or you will never breed. If somone dispensible starts to threaten your position, drive him out.
(the third one, I'll give you that)
4: Lone wolves on your territory are to be hunted off or killed on sight.
5: Don't start a fight unless you are sure to win
Disneyfication has made people go "ooh, ahh, majestic woves" but they are bastards every one, and are killing small scale farming. They even kill dogs on the LEASH when people are out walking. **** wolves.

As someone who has studied wolves let me make a few points.
1: Wolves never overhunt the area, and never kill more then they need. Wolves do not leave a half uneaten animal. So your claim they will kill all they can is ******** . And ******** they will eat animal as soon as they can they are ******* hungry.
2: They will buck for position, but chasing someone off the pack is not common at all. It only happens if the wolf in question is creating far more trouble then they are worth.
4: Well duh. Any wolf on your territory is to be chased off. Killing is rarely done because any non mad wolf will flee. They have to protect their territory, too many wolves in an area and food grows scarce.
5: Wolves never start fights with other predators, and among themselves fight in a very ritual fashion for position. Attacking other wolves only if they came to their territory, which IS protecting the pack, because food is a finite source.
They are not bastards, they are wild animals and people keep enroaching in their territory, so yeah they will kill strange not-wolves and hunt animals on their territory. Its people who are bastards who kill off all the biodiversity, all the game, and then wonder why wolves come and "steal" their cattle.
