First I want to say I'm extremely disappointed in this site. Over the past 10 hours I've gotten many death threats, spam complaints on my form, and people threatening to "hack FJ" and "kill me" because I changed the thumbs.

This comment says it all. The old thumbs were PNG. They do not SCALE. They do not GET BIGGER. They are a background image sprite. They cannot get larger,


SVG SCALES and can grow large. It also draws faster on all devices faster than PNG.

Today FJ threw a huge temper tantrum and threatened to kill me over an essential change for mobile users.

Did I ban anyone? Nope. I soldiered on and made some other changes and (comment image spoilers, etc.) while the hate piled up.

I hope you are very proud of yourselves.

People like what they know. We couldn't care less about what SVG was, We didn't like the new design. If you had made the switch but made them look the same it would have been clear skies. That being said, Now that you corrected the coloring the new thumbs look great. They resemble the old ones but bring the benefits of svg

On a technical standpoint, What are the benefits to svg? Does replacing something as seemingly insignificant as the thumbs really make much of a difference? Aside from the scaling issues you mentioned in previous comments.

I'm with you, the posttwo thumbs looked retarded (who holds their hand like that?) but the new ones are a better take on the old ones, keeping with the same style but making them sleeker. I like it without the typo... The pantone seems better since the mayor complain has been about the 'pale tones' of the new ones... I don't know if Admin is going to make any other mayor change to the page, but if not, this proposal seems a really good one...

That new triangle is big as **** now, I just noticed... yikes, it ***** with the site's symmetry.

Anyway I do like this new thumb. I do like that addy's working on the coloration of it.

I don't support the reasons he did any of these changes. An app at this point would look much less ridiculous since the changes wouldn't appear on a PC user's screen.

Eh, it's a work in progress before addy finally gives up and makes an app, I suppose.

He's trying to make it more mobile user friendly on a site that gets most of its traffic from PCs, without making an app.

Obviously there's going to be a ton of useless and strange looking changes to us on our computers. I don't like where he's taking the ship for that reason.

If he wants to change the layout finally to something new, that's fine, but doing it for the sake of mobile users when even those users just want an app is stupid.

I have one small suggestion posttwo. I think the thumbs look to much like a Yin Yang symbol now, with the way that they're curved and oriented. They don't have to have their tops and bottoms at equal height. You, admin or whomever could lower the red thumb or raise the green, or just change the tilt. Thanks.

The original picture is only composed of a small amount of pixels. It would NOT convert to PNG. That is not how it works.

But I did ask users to make an SVG version of one and I got laughed at.

It seems you're paying more attention to the mobile site and actually giving a **** about it. My only concern is that typing comments is really slow maybe it's just my phone who knows and also bigger images the thumbnails are cut off instead of just shrunken down. But overall you're doing a pretty good job
