Sorry man, i've gotta correct you here: Skilled, not talented. In all likelyhood, then he's spent a long time learning both guitar and korean, so lets not step on that and call him "talented"
- again: Really sorry for correcting, i dont normally do this
okay backstory time: The only reason i was sorry about this, is that i feel bad that you dont understand the difference. When anyone spend the time developing a skill, and people call it "talent" then theres good reason to point it out. Musicians, artists and everyone else that spend a crapload of time, and makes a crapload of sacrifices to get good at something, and not get the appreciation of that sacrifice by having it called bloody "talent" is ******** . Theres no talent involved, theres goddamn hard work involved and years of practice. Hell its the same as going up to a bodybuilder and say "pfft, its all genetics".
I know. I understand the difference. That wasn't the point at all though.
My point was that your excessive apologies for correcting him seemed somewhat hollow to say the least, since you deliberately did so, and at any time during the process could have said vouched not to do so.
Your further attempts to clarify the point of the correction expresses a desire to get the message across, erasing any doubt that you might regret informing us of the difference, proving the apologies in your previous statement an example of outright insincerity, and making you resemble the kind of man that above all likes to hear himself speak.
bitch please, during the process of writing it i was thinking " meh it doesnt freaking matter. Funnyjunk will argue any point to near death, regardless of the vailidity", so i could just as easily have not bothered commenting at all. I commented, and excused profusely, to try and lessen the "grammar nazi" feel of it all and to try and bring to light the difference between talent and skill.
- now someone posted that he can interact with the audience as well as play, and i am sorry but it wont pop up here in comments except in the small notification thing, but that is a very valid point. Although that too can be taught and mastered. though your point still stands that it could be a talent in and of itself, since that **** is damn hard. Then again, i think thats something that comes with the dreadlocks. In my 10 years of playing music, i've never met a musician with dreadlocks that didnt have charisma out his ass....
do you mind explaining why i am a cunt? All i did was point out that it'd be more fair to use the word "skilled" than "talented", as he probably worked hard on his craft. So do tell, you angry person that thinks calling someone "cunt" is okay
That being said, through yet another quote from you, noting the underlined segment:
"I commented, and excused profusely, to try and lessen the "grammar nazi" feel of it all and to try and bring to light the difference between talent and skill."
This is what I'm talking about. An apology is sincere only when you mean "I am actually sad/regretful that this happened", in which case yours weren't, as brought to light from the evidence above. That's all. You spoke my entire point, and it stands with a line under it.
I'm out.
Ok, let's just take a step back and let me introduce you to the problem we apparently have in communication through a quote from your comment.
"though your point still stands that it could be a talent in and of itself [...] " I'M NOT ARGUING WHETHER OR NOT IT'S A TALENT! I didn't even MENTION it. Did you even read my comment before writing your response? Because apparently we're having two different one-sided conversations with each other right now.
dude i had 2 people respond on my end. One of them said "he is being really charismatic and interacting with the crowd, and thats a talent", so thats what i was repsonding to there. Like i said "now someone posted that he can interact ...." so that was kinda referring to someone else.
- also why ARE we having this discussion? I was replying to Rockergamer about the difference between talented and skilled, not so much to start a discussion but rather just to put it out there.
Oh. Sorry. I just noticed the notifications I got from you responding to my comment in stead of his. An understandable mistake. Please disregard comment #41.
dude how is what you're doing not even more so semantic grammar-nazi ******** than what i did? You're literally going through my comments, picking out quotes that support your previous point of "dont use Sorry unless you literally mean: I am saddened by this act". What i did was being polite about it, like when you go "sorry, but can you turn down the music? I'm trying to sleep". Its not to mean "i am saddened to ask this of you", instead it means "i dont want to be a bother about this but can you turn your music down".
If you want to call me out on semantic grammar-nazi'ing a comment then fine, by all means go ahead, but then at least own up to it when you do it yourself.
What I am doing is semantic grammar-nazi ******** , no question there, never refuted it either.
You accuse me of cherry picking, but what you've commented thus far is (#32) the reason why you think it's important with a clarification of what you were saying, (#37) in which you claim you didn't give a **** , then directly spoke my point, again clarified that you were trying to clarify, then (apparently) talked to some other dude in a response to my comment and not his for some reason, and you've given me (#40) in which you explain that you were talking to some other dude.
Since I'm not talking about the clarification of the difference between talent and skill, but yada yada etcetera, #32 and #40 are irrelevant to the discussion and the relevant part of the rest is #37, you claiming not to care and then expressing my point.
And now your comment (#45), in which you accuse me of cherry picking your arguments consisting solely of "I don't care" and then my point, and claim that I keep a double standard with no proof that I do.
I'm calling you the **** out.
Pic related.
You need it to fix your arguments because they're not sticking together very well.
you know what dude? I've worked 14 hours today and i honestly cant be bothered with a continuation of this. I only wanted to clarify the difference between talent and skill. I had no intention of making a big discussion about anything, so i guess congratulations are in order. Your tenacity has proven fruitful, enjoy.
You're correct in everything you said but FJ can't handle the truth. It's a tumblr bandwagon labeled FJ. Hiveminded idiots. Don't state your opinion here. ******* don't even know that "talented" is an insult, but everyone here has a degree in every subject there is.
No, it has nothing to do with that or our hive mind. There was no point in bringing it up or making a correction because we all understood and got the point. What bothers most of funny junk is random correction ******** that isn't needed in long paragraphs because it comes across as arrogant, pretentious and cringy. And the hundreds of long winded paragraphs of replies don't help at all.....
Yeah it's basically the same as saying someone is 'naturally thin' which then just invalidates all the hard work and effort they put into not being a lardass.
Apparently not a lot of people here get that.
dude forget it... its just funnyjunk being funnyjunk again... i really dont undertsand why you got all these reds; its like you've explained yourselv and everything and they still thumbing you down because you dont share their blind enthusiams about something... almost like fj is made of 14 year old selfrighteous bastards... oh wait
Ok, you are getting **** on because you need to take a look at this one little thing:
Go to Google, type in "define:talented" and "define:skilled" and under both of these is their synonym list.
In either list is reference to the other. Which means in common lexicon they are entirely interchangeable.
He's a Talented Performer he can interact with the crowd confidently while keeping the song going almost as if its natural for him, not everyone can. That is by its very definition, Talent. Shut the **** up.
He has a good voice - that's talent. Not everyone can sing. Yes he can strum some chords, that's not even that skilled. For whatever reason he's playing guitar in a subway in South Korea, he must have some need to be there and therefore it makes sense he'd learn Korean or even just how to sing a Korean song. There's even a point where he says "Come on everybody," in English, which should say that he probably doesn't speak Korean.
I have two questions for you.
1) Have you actually managed to make any friends with your ****** attitude?
2) If you do have friends, do they actually like you, or do they just tolerate you?
DUDE, you're the Master Baiter or something? Your sincere opinions are clearly pilling up more hate than any /pol faggot could ever dream of. I salute you for that. And I get what you said about the difference betwen talent and skill. Kinda off topic, but have you ever played any VtM RPGs?
looks like I'm the only person that'll agree with you here. too bad 1 person isnt good enough to remove those negative cumulative 1000 thumbs you received so far lol
Well, not trying to give you more grief - seems like you've gotten more than enough - but, assuming your definitions are correct, it looks to me like what he's doing requires sh*t tons of both talent and skill. To be THAT amazing at something, you're going to need hard work as well as a natural aptitude for it.
I play music myself, and, while I'm nowhere near as good as this guy (also, I play the bass, which is.... a less than ideal solo instrument), I would be ecstatic to have anyone call me talented!
he is talented and hard working it's possible to be both. Some people may try something and not be able to pick it up as quickly or as well as other people so talent is involved. That's like saying all athletes are hardworking but none are talented, although there is a clear line between being a professional and just being athletic because of talent
Why is it when blacks in America make music With the exception of the oh so silky voice of Al Green, or the amazing guitar work of Hendrix it sounds like **** , but actual Africans make awesome **** like this?
You misunderstand. I just took out the ones who did not actually make music. They just sang (rapped). TBH, not sure if Marvin Gaye was a musician. He may have just been a singer.
INB4 A singers voice is his musical instrument. No it ******* isn't.
every element of the song is important. without the voice, some of those songs sung by them wouldn't be the same. completely different and probably not as well known.
Have you ever heard of the ink spots? I always liked how the ink spots songs start with the same riff, still think i dont want to set the world on fire uses it the best doe
If your going to be such an ignorant piece of **** you might as well just leave bub. Wasent it true that back in the 40s Black men were only allowed to be musicans? I dont remember
Actually asking. Soul was some of the best music ever made, yet the **** they make today is gangster **** advocating **** lifestyles. I respect the old school artists just not what is made today.
Every generation has **** music and good music. Not all "old school" music was superior to current music. If i had a nickle for every time someone said "durr **** todays music old school is the way to go i hate this new music **** "
Good music is good, regardless of language. It's just that ****** hippies find whatever music they can in a non-English language and act like it's the greatest thing ever.
Big shout out for you, homeboy. I started listening to Japanese music because of anime, but there are a lot of amazing stuff. Also, we all know how amazing French, Spanish and Italian music can be.
It's not only awesome because he is singing in whats most likely a foreign language, but that so many people stopped to sing along and have a good time
This is really cool. I never really think about how other languages and countries have their own "hits", and to see how well they all react to someone else knowing their culture is awesome, let alone a bunch of people at what looks like a subway station singing and clapping together.
Thank God it is. I have to admit, I'm getting tired of all the sjw posts. Isn't it nice to have a day when everything is interesting or funny for once?
