Of course a lot of things get repeated. For example almost all shounen anime follow the monomyth structure at least loosely.
It's more about how well it's done. For example Highschool DxD is predictable and cliched as all hell, but it has pretty good animation and it has some fun characters. Not talking 'bout fan service here. Then there's "Happiness!", an anime so predictable and cliched that it makes anything else I've seen creative genius by comparison. I was considering self harm near the end of the first episode, solely because I was bored out of my mind.
Well yeah, naturally. There are only so many things you can have characters do. Everything's been done many times over. The only way to find originality is to go so far into absurdity that you won't be taken seriously. It's been done before, it's just a question of how you do it.
To be fair the webm itself is kind of dumb. Anime or anything in general that share the same theme(s) are bound to have similarities. I mean could you imagine an anime about school students with characters that never go to school and just shows their lives outside of school? Then it's no longer part of the original theme. It's like complaining that most bakeries sell cake.
I know this is really late, but how many of these are worth watching?
I've seen Angel Beats, Chuunibyou, and I loved Toradora! Also have seen some of Panty and Stocking and have seen Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu so I don't need any word on anything relating to these.l
I haven't seen all of these, I just recognise them. But from I do know, I'll recommend.
Monogatari Series (dialogue heavy and suggestive themes))
Haganai (fun slice of life show)
Code Geass (psychological mech anime, very good imo)
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (classic romcom, somewhat of a mini harem)
Mekakucity Actors (weird as **** , but still enjoyable)
K-On! (another fun slice of life show, this time with tea and music)
Suzumiya Haruhi no ********** (has a very odd viewing order, that i can't remember, so you'll have to ask elsewhere, but still a very good anime)
Guilty Crown (psychological thriler half mech half supernatural anime, imo the quality drops after the first half, but still good nonetheless)
Kyoukai no Kanata (fun supernatural anime)
AnoHana (Short series that gets heavy on the sad moments towards the end)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Very good action/supernatural anime, if there's anything out of this list you should watch, it's this)
Sorry for the short descriptions, but I'm tired, and that's a fair amount of anime to recommend. Just watch em all.
We can do it, you know. If we, as a collective group, all put our efforts to thumbing all the depraved stupid **** he posts we could give him the one thing he can't stand...Positive reinforcement.
I hate you but gotta give credit where credit's due. **** whoever thought of that **** it wasn't funny the first time and it hasn't been funny the twenty three ******* thousand times it has been posted after that.
What are you talking about? I remember as a young greenimp watching that show and loving the **** out of it. Hell, CitH got me into anime in the first place.
Does anyone have a version of that picture without the blue-ish white background?
<--Like this picture. I think they look nicer / blend well with the site.
Depends whether you hate anime just because it is anime or not.
There are plenty of great series, and even more bad ones.
Finding what you like will won't be easy.
As long as you don't watch those one with the school girls as main characters.
Seriously, if school-girls make a the main cast of the show, it is probably trash.
Trash is a harsh word, perhaps sub-par or of low quality. They're made by Otaku, for Otaku.
I'm not saying all anime is bad. I'm Half-Japanese, and I love shows like Samurai Champloo and FMA: Brotherhood. But you can tell a show just caters to strange dudes when it is full of school-girls or monster-girls. I don't think they make those shows for women.
Very good, had some of the most interesting characters I have seen in awhile and actually have progression to said characters. Interesting art style too.
waitwaitwait. WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS SCENE? Was this skipped in the main series or something? I don't remember seeing this part. I just remember them saying "while all of this was happening, we went and got the other blade."

Kill la kill I thought was good action comedy
Since you don't mind sad stuff I guess you could watch Gurren Lagann
Hellsing Ultimate had a lot of action, but it was too gory for me
Black lagoon also was a lot of action
A lot of people say cowboy bebop was good, but I don't know because I heard it had a sad ending so I didn't watch it.
btooom was also amazing but never had a second season.
That all I can think of off the top of my head.
