Basically, if your coffee comes to 5.66, they charge you 5.55, but the same goes for if it's 5.59. They always round in favor of the customer.

I believe your story that the stores round down. True story time. I live outside a Jew community and occasionally go to a flea market there. One guy has everything priced but when you get to the counter to pay for it, he tries to barter a higher price. He's the very definition of an old filthy Jew.

"Yea but I priced this too low, maybe I'll keep it. Does that sit well with you? Or do you want to give me a few more dollars"

"Keep it you old bastard, I've seen 2 more here today"

"Where, I'll go buy those too. No, wait. I'll sell you this one for only half of what they want"

aaaaactually not always. i'm not allowed to do that at my work. just rounding to the nearest five. and for people who don't know, it would still be the 5.56 (as i presume you mean in your comment) if it's a credit or debit card purchase as most places. it's only if you're paying in change that they round it.
