about the second one, it is Solid Snake who became old as **** since he was made that way, as a tool to use and throw away, I won´t make any spoiler about the ending since I prefer people to play that part.

anusholeboner (03/31/2015) [-] He was technically given the codename Snake for a bit. He got Raiden at the beginning of the Big Shell incident when intel came up that "Solid Snake" was leading the terrorist attack when he was supposed to be dead from the Tanker incident 2 years prior.
