and im 100% sure this would have no issues what so ever, nope. no issues of rending 3 levels of combat with 30 -40 people at once. nope totally possible with no issues what so ever.
More like 50-60. 32 vs. 32 was the norm for large scale FPS on PC before they had to be crippled for consoles. Christ, we could have been looking at 128 player servers if this had continued development.
Battlefield 3 had 128 players working at one time ( I think they were testing this when people created private servers some people got hold of battlefield 3 server files and got it working, EA quickly "disposed" of the people , it had a bit lag, it was jerky, but if they kept working on it they could have got it to work but that costs more money and more development time, so its a no go zone
p.s. I believe the devs said that 128 is too many players, and that the 64p was the sweet spot, so 128p on a map is totally achievable dont quote me on that tho
I was annoyed when EA said along the lines of"We didn't add Clone Wars or Space Battles because we wanted to focus all our energy on making good content."
That's bull. BF 1 and 2 had it made in the shade with a glass of lemonade, so all you had to they was improve upon that.
We all know the real reason why they removed a lot of the stuff is because they want to package it and sell it in their sequels and DLC's.
When a corporation owns the artists, it becomes less about the art and more about the profit.
This video was amazing and the more I watch it the more infuriated I get because we will never get this. Who the **** proposed to cancel this? Why did they not finish this when they started the new one? This looks infinitely better than the new one that turned the series into a generic FPS.
I feel the need to let you guys know the cutscene stuff is not from the leaked battlefield, its from a handheld game related to battlefront. Can't remember the name but the cutscenes were great while the game itself was terrible. Just fyi. Everything else in that video though, was amazing
I think it was called Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron, and I can assure you that it looked nothing like this at all. Sure it's like a heavily watered-down version, but it's in such a way that it's pretty obvious that there was probably going to be a non-portable version. Unfortunately that never came to be.
All the actual combat looks basically the same as Dice's Battlefront and the vast majority of this is either cutscenes taken from some story and aimlessly flying around a space map. Really the only thing about this that seams better than Dice's Battlefront is the amount of heroes and maps. Space battles wasn't even all that good and I missed having air support when they removed atmospheric air combat from battlefront 2.
This is all rose tinted shades, Battlefront 2 has not aged well it's gunplay map design and mechanics are subpar. Dice's Battlefront is fine and a lot of the **** removed is irrelevant, all I really want is more maps.
So glad we traded all that sweet gameplay for watered down shooting mechanics, a boring Hoth battle, and nice graphics.....
I ******* hate DICE and I ******* refuse to buy another one of their god awful ******* games. First they ********* battlefield, now BattleFront. I wanted to believe it would be good but after the initial nostalgia wore off the Beta proved to be so ******* garbage. And don't tell me, "Bruh its a beta, they're gonna make it better". This close to launch that Beta was nothing more than a publicity stunt and to stress test servers, that is so damn close to the finished product and it is awful.
Well you can thank Disney for that because when they bought Star Wars, they decided that all those cool games, books, cartoons, and other media that expanded on the Star Wars universe weren't canon. So they took all that amazing lore and ********** it, then said the only canonical Star Wars media is the original trilogy and SOME of the stuff from the Prequels, not all of it, but some.
**Anetheril used "*roll picture*"** **Anetheril rolled image** wow thats sad. It's like making LotR's story all about the Prancing Pony inn and nothing else matters.
