I have a high school diploma, associates degree in business administration, and by this summer I will have a bachelors degree in information systems. Still never had a job. Never worked a day in my life. I can't imagine I will ever get a job because I'm 22 with no work experience. Feels bad but my parents told me I didn't need one since I was in school... I now realize I'm screwed. I don't know what I'm gonna do.
I tried to work at Wegmans and they turned me away because of no work experience. A ******* grocery store... I applied to stock the shelves. I think some of the issue is that I'm in Oakton, VA. I really need to move somewhere where there's more jobs. In Oakton all the good jobs are taken and the Mexicans take all the entry level jobs. There's nothing left for me here.
Like the other guy said, aim for ****** jobs and apply for EVERYTHING. Use the internet too, websites like snagajob, monster, and indeed can help you find local employment. My first job was agricultural. **** pay, **** work, but the experience got me my current job.
Yeah. Wasn't getting the calls back with my resume as is, so I took a little time and scouted out places beforehand and noticed they were pretty much only hiring immigrants, kids, and people who looked stoned off their ass...
So I took the education and work experience off, got hired the next day.
lol I'm gonna try it. It's not like I've got anything to lose. I could understand that they just wanna keep it chill and maybe my education intimidated them or something.
Dear drunkasaurus.
At least you are still young... I'm ******* 27, a bachelor in engineering, a master in science, and 0 years of work experience... people is basically cleaning their asses with my cv....
Or just treat getting a degree as an investment, don't study something that makes you start where everyone else does.
For example i'm studying Pharmacy, 7 total years of college but the starting salary is over 100k (Higher on the coasts, in the midwest its about 105,000). Pay off your loans within 5 years easy.
If you like science and are intelligent you can easily get a first real job that pays over 100k. In the meantime work a part time job to boost your resume.
inflation vs wages vs house market is completely ****** though, and that IS the baby-boomers fault.
the main issue isn't the lack of jobs, it's the amount the jobs pay, vs how much it costs to buy a house and/or go to school.
Baby boomers is a cop out invented by the real culprits to pit generations against each other and not pay attention to the real issue of money in politics.
People go to colleges that get bad reputations from graduates because they just pass them or go into a field with a lack of job openings and they blame the economy when they don't get hired.... Should have done your research before you went to college. It's not worth making a little more if you bury yourself under debt...
My sister worked at a university to pay for living expenses while going to college. She majored in linguistics, and she fluently speaks french, spanish, chinese, Italian, and several other languages that I don't know where they're from

Tell her to apply for a position in any major court house as a freelance interpreter. Any place that is an urban centre like San Francisco or New York would want her help because of the diverse and multicultural populations. Perfect if she likes to travel or live in the big cities, but definitely up to her.
She still has to have a certification test and working knowledge of law ofc.
She took a bunch of law classes, so no doubt she could pass
I don't want to make her sound amazing, but she got straight a's, went to community college, got straight a's, moved up to a nice college, got straight a's, and did school abroad people in Spain had no idea where she was from because she wasn't quite accentless, and spoke too formally to sound like a native.

Well, if she likes working at the uni there's nothing wrong with it, but if she has some days off or would like some extra 100 dollars an hour spending money (depending on state funding of course) there's the little scrap of money she could be earning there.
Oh wait I forgot there is a difference between university and college. In my university there is no one who doesn't go for a master because otherwise it's a waste of time to get your bachelors degree.
