It's the most damaging temper tantrum we've ever seen though.
Think of how much we've lost in the recent years they've been screaming.
Think of how many laws are about to be brought in which will make **** so much worse.
It isn't even going to stop because they're still going.
It's too late man.
It's happened. They should've listened.
It's pretty much over. Liberal governments are getting closer to totalitarianism than Joseph Stalin ever got, and that's scary as **** .
User avatar #5 to #3 - tacotrainone (10/08/2015) [-]
my standard of living remains the same, no widespread laws have been passed, the only thing anita and zoe managed to do was talk to the UN and tell them they were harrassed, nothing will come of that cause the UN doesnt have **** for power.
User avatar #28 to #5 - alcantara (10/09/2015) [-]
The incompetence of the UN on the matter is shown by the recent report they released, which was promptly criticised heavily by those who read it, and withdrawn due to the extent in which the citations within were deemed dysfunctional - the paper cited itself as a source, other UN reports as a source, cited the same source several times, gave incomplete citations, and in some cases left citations blank meaning we have no idea what they were meant to be citing. In short, it would have been laughed at by any university.
#207 to #5 - anon (10/09/2015) [-]
HA! Seriously! People were freaking out about them speaking to the UN. If the UN can't handle something as important as Rwanda then how the hell are they going to handle a "global crisis" of people being mean? It's important to note that the UN, a few days after the meeting in question, declared they were focusing on the clean water crisis and curing Malaria, AIDS, and other tropical diseases.
#193 to #5 - anon (10/09/2015) [-]
That's the thing though, Its stayed the same. When SJW's/Feminists silence conferences with dissenting points of view, standards of living don't change because they're stagnated before they can be improved.

really, really boring story, but I feel obligated to post it anyway

I have a friend that I've known as an SJW for about a year now. shes a child and talks like a typical millennial. she complains about how schools dont teach how to pay your taxes and why we waste time reading books we aren't interested in. when she wasn't 100% deluded by her own vision of a world that has rapists on every corner, we talked and I knew that she started having that SJW-ish tongue on herself. It was actually really saddening.

she says how she spends her time in her room looking at nothing or sleeping for hours at a time once school ends, because she doesn't want to get addicted reading manga or watching anime so that her parents would still believe in her. she doesnt read books or watch television. The only thing she ever does is play Fire Emblem: Awakening, and even then, she expresses it like it was just an addiction. when she had friends over, she said "I feel like these arent really my friends, no matter how much I talk to them or whatever" .

she was so alone and isolated into boredom that she drifted into tumblr and eventually found this movement of feminists, and all things related to it, like cis-scum, kill all men, ecetera. she even said it herself that she thought all of it was just dumb complaining **** , but then she read on and found out how it was "enlightening" for her. like she found her rite of passage given by god.

after 3 months, she started spamming **** on her statuses. *********** ? nope. every 5 minutes there would be a status about her being chastised for being young or being female, or so she thought. she eventually drove herself into blaming everything on corporates and the patriarchy. she started deleting a lot of people. including me. we don't talk anymore.

they're all just children. children who hone potential in becoming decent people with skills. she was an artist that could draw very well, in particular. I tried pushing her into doing it more, but she said they were all distractions and addictions, yet she was completely brainwashed and addicted into posting statuses that no one read or cared about remotely, unless it was about her cooking.

the worst part was that when she was still half sane, we talked and we got into a topic about her boyfriend who left because she couldn't take being in a relationship at the time, because she thought that was just a time waster as well. she did absolutely nothing and lost absolutely everything but become a feminist.

it feels so alien now. how I meet regular people that get invested into other peoples thoughts so much that they believe them without a second thought. In retrospect, I guess we're all just different like that? I said she was a child, but who am I to even describe childishness? I'm still ******* stupid too, and how is my lifestyle any different from being unique? how is my lifestyle more "normal"? is it ignorance? is it just when and where we live on? times and places? could I have become an SJW? would I have gone insane and spent all of my life outside of school to post bigoted responses to anti-feminism arguments? And am I in any right to say that that kinda lifestyle is 'wrong'?

I don't think I'll ever know.

I still wish I could've stopped her.

I have a similar story.
So me and this guy called Edward were friends pretty much since we met in Year 7 Age of 11-12 education we became best friends in year 8 and then really close We nearly had a no homo experaince when we were 13. He was a fairly regular 13 year old, he played video games, liked music, general intrests, he was one of those people who no one can hate, he just didn't have a hateable aspect to him. But in Year 9 during sport he injured his spine, he was off school for 1/2 a year and then came back but only for a couple of weeks. He started to refuse to go to school and now all he does is play Starcraft II and League of Legends. He never left home to go to school, not once in two years (9-10). He stopped talking to me out of the blue Lot of backstory I know and I started talking to him again recently. Now since we last spoke I'd changed a bit, I now found a passion for politics however in his mind... the wrong politics, for he had found his own ideology. He's now some kind of Cultural Feminist Marxist ******** Libertarianism best Ism. and essentially stopped talking to me because "The thought he has in his head make him deserve to be shot, if I was in power, I'd do it myself." A text he sent my ex He got brainwashed by his Trans sister however, who I knew and always knew was like this.

I know my friend is going to snap out of this utter bull **** eventually. He'll realise that he's being stupid but really, I wish I stopped him,

I've always had this one type of question in my head for quite some time now. Would I be one of those crazies if just one aspect of my life were different? I have the same experiences growing up, go to the same websites and do the same **** , but instead I agree with one different opinion at a pivotal moment. That one thing that pushes me in the opposite direction just long enough while I'm still really open to new ideas so that I end up being like a shadow-dimension version of myself.

With that thought in mind, would that invalidate my current experience? In my current state would I still be exactly like these people, just opposite opinions? And if that's the case how am I any better? The assumption that I am in the right simply because I believe myself is terrifying to me.
#187 to #49 - anon (10/09/2015) [-]
I think the difference is, regardless of what we do we're not harming anyone.
These SJW's don't accept that they themselves might not be perfect and anything that goes wrong for them is because of corporations or patriarchy. They can't see or won't accept that they are the ones that are pushing their friends away or missing out on opportunities, no one is abandoning them, they are just isolating themselves.

Their whole 'movement' about not making rape a joke - rape never was a joke until they made it one. They're just a bunch of young white girls embarrassing themselves in the name of feminism, all while ignoring actual issues like FGM, arranged marriages and the like.
But because they pissed themselves and posted it on youtube they somehow 'fought against men in the name of feminism'.
It's that whole 'passive charity effect' thing, because they did something meaningless, they felt like they still did their part and so don't actually do anything productive.

In short, you're not hurting anyone. The brainwashed feminist movement is doing real harm.

See, this is a thing that happens, though. It's called genderconfused or gendercurious. Just like bicurious. Young people, trying to figure out who they are and what their place in the world is, will question their sexuality and some question their gender. That's why college is infamous for it's 'that one time' gay experiences.
#138 to #135 - sheepnut (10/09/2015) [-]
Anyone who questions their own gender is either one of two things: hermaphroditic or retarded. Unless you've never looked at your own genitalia, in which case you aren't retarded, but you might want to check that out so you aren't confused anymore.

#141 to #140 - thirdjess ONLINE (10/09/2015) [-]
You know there's a handful of synonyms that are also antonyms? So that's not really a good excuse.
#148 to #141 - sheepnut (10/09/2015) [-]
Those two definitions are pretty god damn similar. (that's why they're synonyms)
Also, some words can be synonyms and antonyms at the same time because as cool as English is, it's also confusing. A lot of words have the same spelling but different meaning. We call those homographs.

the state of being male or female
or
either of the two main categories into which humans...are divided on the basis of reproductive functions

Notice how in the first definition it doesn't say anything about identity, it refers to a state of being. A factual, indisputable state of existence that can only be questioned in reference to Solipism. But that's one hell of a wacky philosophical frame that doesn't bode well for educated discussion on social issues, so I suggest we don't use that kind of framework here.
User avatar #149 to #148 - thirdjess ONLINE (10/09/2015) [-]
You missed intentionally skipped over the important part.

The state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones).
#150 to #149 - sheepnut (10/09/2015) [-]
2 things:

If it were the important part, it would exist oustide of parentheses. But it's not, so it's just a side note.

Even if it was important, note the use of the word "typical". Suggesting that anything typical is right and anything atypical is wrong is a logical fallacy. I know you didn't directly state that, but you referred to the definition as proof of your claim, so you might as well have made the good old fashioned status quo/appeal to tradition argument yourself.
#152 to #150 - thirdjess ONLINE (10/09/2015) [-]
Ok, here's a definition without the parenthesis and the use of 'typically'
dictionary.reference.com/browse/gender?s=t
#153 to #152 - sheepnut (10/09/2015) [-]
Well that definition fits my claim better than it does yours, but definitions aren't really proof of anything, especially when they are written to explain grammar rather than social context.

Our discussion is really about whether or not the modern connotation of gender, as it is in reference to social classification, is properly or not properly modified by third wave feminism.

I believe it is not properly modified for the betterment of humans because gender is not something we need to believe in in any metaphysical way. For male to be he and female to be she is a simple way of life that allows for progression on more pressing issues. When we as a race allow each other to fall back on our responsibility to answer for our transgressions, we altogether weaken as a bunch. There are more important things in the world than to question whether or not I feel like a man or feel like a woman. I feel like a human (because I am one, I promise) and I was born with a penis. I have an X and Y chromosome. That makes me a male. It's simply unscientific to look at it any other way, until we have empirical reason to view it in a new light. Tell me, do you side with reason or make-believe?
User avatar #155 to #153 - thirdjess ONLINE (10/09/2015) [-]
The key to both of these definitions of gender, is that they specifically state gender represents either a man or woman in social construct, as opposed to gender. And, again, you're ignoring important information to suit your own agenda: in this case you're ignoring the plentiful supply of 'empirical reason'. For example, the case of the young man who was raised as a woman, and ended up committing suicide. Showing that gender is deeply ingrained into ones being. Or, if you like, this more recent and less violent study showing the same thing. medicalxpress.com/news/2015-01-transgender-kids-gender-identity.html

It is all well and good for you to say that 'males being males and females being female is the simple way of life' when you do identify as your biological sex. It is all well and good for rich people to be whimsical about the mass poverty throughout the world. That doesn't mean their opinion is factually correct, or socially responsible.
#159 to #155 - sheepnut (10/09/2015) [-]
**sheepnut used "*roll picture*"**
**sheepnut rolled image**When a little boy says that he's a girl, you tell him that he's wrong and that he's a boy. That's socially responsible, and parents have that responsibility to know when it is appropriate to tell their child that they are wrong in believing something, and knowing when to support the child's ideas. Children aren't born with sexual understanding, and that's why it's up to parents to provide their child with that information so they can survive in society. When you're a three year old kid, you don't see much of a difference between boys and girls, because you are innocent, untapped, and naive. Ignorant.

When and how parents explain this is entirely up to them, but I would never encourage someone to tell their child that they can be a girl if they want, because you can't always get what you want. Gender being one of those things. You are born into one of two binary genders, and that's what you are. It's selfish and prideful to think that the world must give you inherent respect for who you are. If you want someone's respect, you have to show them that you deserve it. You have to earn it.

The solution is not forcing everyone to accept everyone, but instilling in all that they should believe in and accept themselves for what they are. That's where peace comes from.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

The movement for accepting transgenders goes so much deeper than accepting some ultra-minority sexual group. It goes against all that makes humanity strong and resilient, and the movement seeks to soften us at the core and make us weak. I hope my children won't have to grow up in a world without virtue or direction, where anything goes for the sake of name "liberalism". Have the wisdom to know the difference.
User avatar #162 to #159 - thirdjess ONLINE (10/09/2015) [-]
Ok. If people aren't born with a sexual understanding, why are the children in this study so adamant about their identity. Furthermore, if children aren't born with a sexual understanding, why are there several documented cases of people killing themselves or others after being raised a gender they are not?
#169 to #162 - sheepnut (10/09/2015) [-]
Because some people in this world are weak. I know these days that sounds like some turbo-facist nazi propaganda, but it's true. There are weak people in this world, and like I said before, if we really do agree that humankind has one collective social responsibility, then I believe that our social responsibility is to help those people to become strong. The way to do that is to get them on board with the idea that there are going to be things in life that you can't control.

Society is a great example of something that can't be controlled, at least not here in America, where that **** is illegal and the government isn't allowed to interfere. Society is something almost organic that evolves over time. One person can't just stand up and say hey you all believe this now. Well, they can, but they tend to look like these blokes.

Actually, through the extension of my arguments I compared the current feminist movement to Hitler. When you seek to forcefully change society through a movement, you risk being compared to Nazis, because that's exactly what they did, albeit more forcefully.

Fun fact: that's why the Nazis used the swastika as their symbol. It represents movement and change.

Like I said, real peaceful social change happens over time organically. Mostly through what parents teach their children, and you already know my opinion on what parents should be teaching their children.

I see why you're confused. I never said that we should cull the weak. I said we should help them become strong. Killing people=bad. Helping people=good. I thought that was pretty clear.

Except for the fact that "helping them become strong" (aka forcing an already strong triangle into a circle hole because you like circles) results in them culling themselves, a side affect which bothers you none.

I'd also like to add that I linked this convo to my trans friend, because I was so completely shocked that you COMPARED YOURSELF TO HITLER. He's convinced that you're a closeted trans, and you're hitlering yourself.

At this point I pray that you are a troll

Made a slip "The key to both of these definitions of gender, is that they specifically state gender represents either a man or woman in social construct, as opposed to biological"

Quite a bit of scientific study says otherwise

I still don't believe in 'trans' people
#72 to #51 - tenaciouslee (10/09/2015) [-]
Why the **** would you make that?
#73 to #72 - newdevyx (10/09/2015) [-]
I didn't make it.
User avatar #74 to #73 - tenaciouslee (10/09/2015) [-]
Not you, specifically, but why would you make a "Call me Caitlyn" costume?
#75 to #74 - newdevyx (10/09/2015) [-]
Because he's a fag.

I guess if you wanted to mock Bruce Jenner, it'd be perfect.

But s/he's already got a porn parody, so there's no need.
User avatar #55 to #50 - homosexualpirate (10/09/2015) [-]
I dunno I kind of agree with the fact that labeling someone as transgender sort of take away from the fact that they are something. It's like no trans isn't my gender it's male/female.

Whether you agree with it is an opinion, but the only demographic Tumblr represents is angry teenagers

OOOOOH! I'm a spoopy trans person! woooo!

Not believing in something doesn't make it true

There's a difference between tumblr people whining about pronouns and actual trans people. I believe it's widely considered a thing in biology, sociology, etc.

A kilogram of steel and a kilogram of feathers weight exactly the same.
It's the same amount.

You know, it's pretty ******* sad.

Transsexuals really do get **** on by people when most of the time they are doing nothing to truly hurt anybody, and to see that the few pushes to get them at least somewhat respected was just a phase from over-privileged high school white girls is disgusting.

It's sad that "equality" is now just a term people throw around to get more popular
