You know, I once watched all of these and bookmarked pretty much all of the songs on them.

I guess they were more or less entertaining like four years ago...
...But I doubt it's going to make good content.
Partially because most of FJers have no idea what this is.

home star runner's small 2014 update got attention. Not much, but I was surprised it got any attention here since homestar is older than 4chan and funnyjunk.

You'd be surprised at the number of long time internet junkies here.

pre millennial flash based website.

Around the time I started using the web almost 10 years ago, it and New grounds were THE place to be for all the cool kids at the school computer labs.

last significant update occured when FJ was green i think. wasn't on funny junk during that time.

but then they added a new animation and i nostalgia'ed hard.

Early 00s Newgrounds? That brings back memories, Pico's School (not Boku no Pico) Alien Hominid, Madness, those stick figures.

What was the web adress for that ultra "gory" stick-figure website with flash animations that the supposedly "really cool kids" ( those who these days would be dismissed as "edgy" ) watched?

Dude, you should have had prepared me for this nostalgia trip I'm having.

I know for sure that I've been using the internet since before 2003, but can't say how much, my family got broadband in 2002 and I started going on internet communities in 2003.

Not that it matters to those who has been on the internet for that long who is "the oldest", these days we tend to be grateful to find someone else who remembers pre-Facbook internet.

Dude, I almost forgot about Pico's School. Got me in trouble with my parents .

I know what you are talking about but for the life of me cannot remember the name of it. It might be stickpage.com , but i think that's relatively newer.
regardless, how bout another nostalgia trip? www.xgenstudios.com/play/castle
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogEtfIdgjpY

No point in arguing over who's the oldest indeed! too many goddamn newfags flooding our internet to worry about that.

Yeah, the ending, where you have to shoot a giant cockroach-demon in the balls to kill it , could probably be a bit hard to explain. It didn't help it was released around the time of Columbine.

And xgen studies, man, I loved Stick RPG, awesome game. The sequel was awesome as well, though it ended up in development-hell for a while. How long was it in development hell? I remember it as ten years, but I played the sequel in 2009, so I'm guessing it was more like seven.

Remember this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIyixC9NsLI Probably my earliest encounter with what could be described as a "meme".

Also, daily reminder that the date is September 7598th, 1993 - the September that never ended.

I still put You need to login to view this link in front of URLs if the browser doesn't know the website already.

I know it is stupid, I know it is archaic, but I'll be damned if it just doesn't feel like the right thing to do.

Haha, I remember seeing a stand-up comedian one time forget part of his set, after having stood there for half a minute saying "Uh... eeeh... uh... uhm... eeeh..." until he looked straight at the audience and said: "I have a part time job making the modem sounds."

I still have no idea why those sounds were so important to the process.

The sound was the data. remember, early internet was re purposing telephone networks to communicate. now it has it's own infrastructure and fiber optics are much faster than wires.

Use this sound clip if you need a better explination of how it worked exactly.

Aaah, thanks, I knew that early computers functioned that way, but I had no idea it was still used in the early internet. Thanks.

I always thought that technology was older than that, but then again, I keep forgetting the internet is older than myself and wasn't commercially widespread until 1993, and why fix something that isn't broken?

it's kinda like how the automobile was older than the Model T, but that was what made cars more accessible.
