golnax [OP](08/23/2015) [-] Honestly, looking at the design as a whole, I think they were trying to go for a more awkward/androgynous look for the character. I think the video reinforces this design choice via dialogue and interaction and such, like when Mephistopheles asks if Sock liked him or not. More I think about it, the more I'm pretty sure the creator was trying to trick people into thinking Sock was a girl if they didn't pay enough attention to the dialogue.

golnax [OP](08/22/2015) [-] Sock was just one of those people that was born to kill stuff. Somewhere on a unconscious level, Sock was broken (Possibly from being named Sock). He did murder his parents in his sleep after all.
I think he laughed at him because his hair was up like a cowlick... or maybe just that he was expecting a "demon" to be a bit more confident about what's under his hat and not so bashful. Either one probably works.
