Who needs precision when you can bomb the **** out of stuff.
Erm.. comrade? We missed our target by 200km.
- Don't worry comrade, I just got confirmation that target is destroyed.

I happen to be a god damned expert on this kind of **** .

The United States was a bunch of crafty mother ******* during the Cold War. Here are just a couple of the crazy ideas (scrapped or not) brought about by the Cold War.

1. Acoustic Kitty - The CIA spent $20 million and 5 years surgically implanting microphones into a cat's ear, running a wire down it's spine, which connected to an antenna in it's tail. It was going to be trained and released to spy on things such as the Kremlin. After all 6 months of surgery, and 5 months of training, it was time for the field test. They released it from a van in New York to go spy on an agent who was pretending to be discussing information. Approximately two minutes into the field test, the cat was hit by a taxi and was killed instantly. The official CIA report stated it was a success, saying: "Cats can indeed be trained to move short distances.

Hey, They had to show how ******* powerfull they were, and back then, blowing the **** out of the moon would've been pretty damn impressive.

Also would've had long term repercussions, but hey, You blew up the damn moon.

There's a lot of damage to be done to earth by nuking the moon, I'm surprised no one has actually tried.

We're nowhere near colonizing other planetary masses but we're already coming up with ways to **** them up...

inb4 the moon is not a suitable candidate for colonization. That's not the ******* point
User avatar #12 - thinkwithportals (10/01/2013) [-]
Although its a bad idea, can you imagine how cool it would be? One night you just look at the moon and it flashes and gets covered by an orange glow. **** would be so cash

It's a good plan, if you can put a missile on the moon you can put one anywhere on Earth.
User avatar #115 to #114 - Vandeekree (10/02/2013) [-]
The Tsar bomb would not be big enough. If you took all the bombs, including that one, that are on Earth, their combined effect on the orbit of the moon would be 0, all they would do is make some relatively small craters on the surface.

Hypothetically, would there even be any heat generated? With the complete lack of air, pretty sure the "flashy response", wouldn't be seen..

Makes me wonder what would actually happen.. for science.
User avatar #87 - gibbbysan (10/02/2013) [-]
We just watched a Mr. Show sketch about blowing the moon up in English (because why the **** not?) I was unaware that it was an actual thing.

Yeah. And as a "show of force" the US detonated a giant hydrogen bomb in space, causing the Earth the be surrounded by radioactive particles that raised worldwide cancer rates by %1 (actually a lot) and didnt disperse for almost a decade.

Great idea.
