**NoYouCantEatThat rolled image**not sure if you actually think that was a tortoise or you are just pulling my leg... but in any case that was a common snapping turtle. Besides the looks one other difference between them and the more famous Alligator snapping turtle is the fact that the common snapping turtle will typically "launch" its neck forward to bite its prey or what have you while the alligator snapper will typically wait until something is already inside the mouth.
