Reddit has alot of useful communities to supply you with information. Drama is generally kept on a select few sub-reddits.

Funnyjunk is a backwoods meme site that has constant drama all over the site, *********** and "trolling" is allowed and rampant, and people go out of their way to skirt the rules as close as possible.

The downfall of this site is going to be freedom, nazi-admin FJ when dickbutt was banned was when FJ started making a good profit because we got google ad-sense back due to the cleaner content on the site.

Actually, the drama is pretty exclusively present in places that encourage it, like the comment section on certain users' content.
For instance the semi-official anime recommendation board that I run, which actually sees a deal of traffic, has operated without a smidgen of drama for over 2 years.

Reddit is way different from most websites, mainly in that you interact only with the parts you want to. Similar to funnyjunk channels, except the entire website is exclusively comprised of channels, called subreddits. Each subreddit has their own set of moderators, which means that some subreddits are relatively normal for the internet, while others are filled with abuse of power and cancer.

Subreddits that are useful: /r/subredditcancer: documentation of mod abuse and cancerous subreddits. /r/theredpill: how to not be a mangina. Kinda in the direction of PUA and MGTOW. Be careful with this one, it's widely despised on reddit, and anything connecting you to this sub will be traced by lonely manginas who have nothing better to do than to stalk people on the internet. Witch hunts have happened due to these assholes. /r/fitness: some problems with mod abuse, but it's a decent hub for fitness information.

Subreddits that are okay: /r/askreddit: Generic "ITT" type sub. Source of passive fun. Moderators are slightly abusive, but it isn't that big of a deal. /r/news and /r/worldnews: self explanatory. Mod abuse is fairly common.

Absolute cancer: Anything connected to SRS: SRS ( **** Reddit Says) is worse than tumblr, if you can believe it. Witch hunts, mod abuse, doxxing, all put together in a package of admins not doing anything about it. Avoid like the plague. /r/thebluepill": an attempt at an antithesis to theredpill. Even if you don't like theredpill, avoid thebluepill like the plague. It's got pretty strong connections to the SRS crowd. /r/atheism**: Fedora tipping. A pretty big source of reddit stereotypes.

A large amount of reddit is cancerous, but because of the nature of the website, the entirety of the website can't be described by sweeping terms. It has useful and decent parts to it, you just gotta know which part is which. It's kinda like that pufferfish that kills you if you don't cut it right.
