A main reason they quit school for most of them (I don't know the exact specifics but I've heard this about all of them ) was that they weren't learning anything knew, they already learnt it, not because school doesn't teach you anything, someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I hate seeing higher education constantly demonized as if its a waste of time.

I am a Freshman and I want to quit school, because they(the teachers), really, don't seem to teach me anything at all...

But what do they(parents) do when I chose to do it? They refuse and keep me in!

It isn't that they weren't learning anything new, it's that they had business ventures they were working on and had shown promise. They weren't too intelligent to learn anything new (lol what?) they just felt that their time would be better spent pursuing something they really wanted, rather than finishing their education.

And the fact that they had ideas. Most people drop out because of bad grades and they settle for something less, these guys actually have a plan.

Currently such education is far from optimized, and there's so much bullocks timewaste and stupid decisions being made. It's quite frustrating, but it's the best way forward, nevertheless. I wish it'd get a nice update, get some smart people to look at it, and fix the obvious glaring problems with it and make it a factory of smarts

RESEARCH TIEM!:

Well, for Gates at least he didn't quit school - he got a pretty high score on his SAT test. He did however drop out of Harvard College.

Larry Ellison left University Illinois after 2 years because his mom died, then later went to University of Chicago where he encountered computer engineering

Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard College

and last but not least Steve jobs; Who didn't drop out because he wanted or was smart - his parents simple couldn't afford college so he dropped in on classes bunked at friends in their dorm rooms and scavenged for food and money.

So they all completed High School, some just didn't complete College or even university

But they all have one thing in common: They where smart by default - Gates scored 1590 on his SAT test (out of 1600), Jobs Parents where told by the school that he should have been moved two classes up because he was that smart (they didn't because of ?? reasons), Ellison have been knowing for being bright and Zuckerberg was almost classified a genius, the guy won prices in Math, Physics and Astronomy - also he had a fencing career going.

// Research done:

On topic; i completely agree with you

"Being smart" doesn't translate into SAT scores, just in case there were any people who actually believed that.

People should stop assuming that all these "super geniuses" who make all the moolah were so super smart that they simply never had to go to college or whatever you're saying.

No matter how well Gates scored on his SAT or how much money he made, he still hasn't made a single contribution that makes him stand out from all the rest of the worlds "geniuses" that you never hear about.

Also, why does anyone associate Zuckerberg with being genius? I think this really just proves how people misunderstand rich and famous for being intelligent, because Zuckerberg is only known for making Facebook and making mad money.

How does this translate into him being a genius? "Well, you gotta be super clever to design a website". Have you ever heard anyone say that?

Thanks, I was too lazy to do it. But I knew enough about them to know that they simply dropped out of school and all of a sudden they were successful. They did it for various reasons, but their success shouldn't be associated with them just dropping out.

He looks like this now.

'After appearing on the “Dr. Phil Show” in 2011, an incident with one of his daughters led to the police taking Ted into custody. He told Billy and Kit that once he was reunited with his family in Los Angeles, they celebrated and indulged in some heavy drinking, while hiding it from everyone.'

Then rehab, then 'Ted explained that he then battled with drugs yet again, following his eight-day rehab stay, but was given another chance at sobriety by Dr. Phil, who sent him back to rehab. He began his second rehab stint in May 2011 and stayed for 90 days at the Texas treatment center.'

That's the problem, alot of people on the streets aren't there because they quit school, most are there because of drug or alcohol habits. I know this one guy through my uncle who literally made millions (not like hundreds of millions, like two or three, but that's still lots of cash) and then started doing cocaine, now he's on the streets.

It's not about quitting school exactly. It's about not giving into this system we have in place today. It's about making the system your bitch. It's about making your own job and starting your own things whether it be an oil company or making movies or painting something controversial or jumping from buildings. It's about DOING SOMETHING. Homeless people left the system but chose to do nothing while the others left the system to create their own.

An English Degree is like the swiss army knife of Degrees though.

There's all sorts of jobs you can get with an English Degree.
(Many of them revolve around education, tutoring, being a documentarian, and writing)

The problem a lot of people these days is that they either go too general (Liberal Arts) Or too Specific (Super Ultra Mega Industrial Psychology/Some kind of specific Engineering)

Both lead to joblessness unless you have some sort of plan and something set up for when you leave school.

If you really want a useless degree; go for psychology, philosophy, sociology, or manchurian swords.

But I also feel like Creative writing, after a point; it can't be taught, and it's left to talent.
