How the war ended. Israel took the Gaza Strip, the Golan Heights and some more land. The UN brokered a ceasefire but Israel basically doubled in size after the war and permanently annexed easter Jerusalem. Thats sorta basically the six day war.

tl;dr Israel did a preemptive strike, beat three armies and eventually took more land than it had to begin with after 6 days of fighting the Egyptians, Syrians, Iraqis, and Jordanians.

the syrian tank in a fortifiet position that is mentioned seems to be a German Panzer 4, which was produced until 1945.
the Six Day War was as far as i know the last war fought with Panzer 4 tanks

Pic related, its a PZ4 captured by the Israelis during this was

There's something fitting about using Panzers to fight a Jewish state.

The Israelis also used ww2 surplus. they used Sherman tanks with new engines and French 105mm guns, these "super Shermans" took on American M48s and Soviet T-55s and weren't slaughtered. This probably says more about the Arab armies using them than anything else.
User avatar #6 to #3 - mrshrapnel ONLINE (09/19/2015) [-]
Aye a Panzer 4 auf. H i think like how the israelis used modified M4s.

it might be a Ausf J too, there are only very few differences between this versions and i think none of them can be seen from the front
it could be an Ausf G too, the sign says so and they look almost like Ausf H
it could be an older version that was ugraded with a better gun, turret schürzen and additional frontal armament
The Shermans used by Israel were upgraded with better guns, mostly 105 mm, which were unsurprisingly better than the German ones (also older).
some Shermans were also equipped with 75 mm guns in oscilating turrets also used by French amx 12 and/or amx 13 light tanks i cant keep them apart
in case you already knew most of this i apologies for wasting your time
pic related, its a Sherman with a french turret
#26 to #7 - sylaz (09/20/2015) [-]
Not a Ausf J, as they don't have moutings for armor on the turret. Nor do they have a machine gun at the front.
Pic related: A "real" Ausf J.
User avatar #37 to #26 - solidderking (09/20/2015) [-]
well, so it isnt an ausf J
does the J really dont have a front MG ? because so far all J`s i`ve seen had them and i never read something about them not having a front MG
#38 to #37 - sylaz (09/20/2015) [-]
So i read up on it, and your indeed right. It wasn't the front mounted they removed.
It was the turret ports, they removed to simplify production.

User avatar #41 to #38 - solidderking (09/20/2015) [-]
the only way i can differate between J and the others is by counting the support rollers, J has 3, the others have 4.
they should make a game show where you have to find out what Ausf. it is and then they add some PZ3 tanks to mess with beginners

#27 to #15 - sylaz (09/20/2015) [-]
Well it all comes down to the soviets, you see during WW2. Soviet forces captured alot of german armor, but unlike the Panthers and Tigers. The Panzer IV was actully reliable and much easier to get spare parts to. Which meant that many of the captured Panzer IV were in good condition during the cold war.
It was then standard practice for the soviets to arm their allied forces with captured weapons during the cold war, which is the same reason. That we to this day, still see plenty of STG 44 and Kar98K down in Syria. Pic related

5,000 were found in storage in Syria and are being used by rebel and jihadist groups right now.

They are dumb.
They could sell them to collectors, and easily buy 5 times more AKs
User avatar #64 to #63 - actionmastermegatr (09/25/2015) [-]
Who are they going to sell them to? there are no one in Syria with a gun who isn't using it and the governments of Syria's neighbours all buy modern western gear, they're not gonna be interested in ww2 relics.
#53 to #48 - sylaz (09/20/2015) [-]
Yeah, it's kinda awesome. I would LOVE to get my hands on one of those.
Especially since many of them are in pristine condition..

do you know that they used american tank destroyes from ww2 during the Bosnian conflict ? did you know that many russian t 34 are still in use or again . the Ukrainian seperatist stole some tanks from monuments, where they stood for 60-70 years and they still run.

even old tanks are still valuable for ill equipped armies

Pic related. Active T-34 in February 2015, Ukraine.
#56 to #40 - actionmastermegatr (09/20/2015) [-]
There are also T-34s and Su-100s being used in Yemen, don't know if they're government or Houthi owned but if they're loyalists it means that you have Abrams and AMX-50 Leclarc tanks fighting on the same side as ww2 relics.

I'm aware allied tanks were still in use for many many years but most Nazi German equipment was usually destroyed after the war or taken apart if it was something remarkable and used for their own tanks.

it's not often you see any German weapons outside of WW2.
User avatar #19 to #18 - solidderking (09/20/2015) [-]
well, in most cases that is correct, but not always, the french army used panthers for 5 years or so, Switzerland produced g13 tankdestroyers, which were almost identical to the Jagdpanzer 38 "T", also known as hetzer and the chzech used to produce sdkfz 251 until 1952 or so.
Hungary, Romania and Finland used German tanks for quite some years in one case as bunker
Compared to how many T 34 are still in use that is nothing though

IDGAF about the politics, but that's some damn good fighting by Israel.
I'd say the same about Nazi Germany, that is, if they had ever led a good military campaign.

They basically did a carbon repeat of Napolean. Conquer a ton of Europe, try to destroy Russia in the winter, lose, whole campaign crumbles, and lose.

german military generals did however create:

1)lightning warfare in all its might we know it today

2)helped master tank warfare alongside names like patton and montgomery.

True. If Hitler didn't make the same mistake, he would have won easy. France might, just maybe would have made it out thanks to US intervention, but I somehow doubt it. It's thanks to Germany's screw ups that the war was won by the Allies.
User avatar #36 to #35 - angelious ONLINE (09/20/2015) [-]
there is an old saying where im from

"whenever hitler interfered with his lackeys, germanny suffered. whenever stalin interfered with his lackeys, russia benefited"

hitler was an idiot in nearly everything else except giving rousing speeches. but his underlings were pretty darn great., and his military was one of the greatest earth has ever seen.
User avatar #49 to #36 - actionmastermegatr (09/20/2015) [-]
When things went bad for the Soviets Stalin eventually shut up and let his generals like Zhukov do their jobs, When things went bad for the Nazis Hitler increasingly micromanaged everything and made it worse.
User avatar #52 to #49 - angelious ONLINE (09/20/2015) [-]
the thing is. stalin actually made a lot things better with high costs. hitlers army was doing great, even with hitlers horrendous military leadership system. they only started their downfall when hitler intervened and started deciding what to do.

stalin. when he interfered he created a costy, but effective moralization effect agaitns the nazis, beatted some new wind into the stagnant finnish front. and overall made things better(again, in a pragmatic way,..)

#62 to #52 - alfrsa (09/25/2015) [-]
Not to mention tank designers often appealed directly to Stalin. The Russian army called for multi turreted tanks in the beginning of WWII, and the engineers knew it was a flawed concept because it would be more expensive, less safe, and would make for a slower tank; they bitched to Stalin and he trusted their judgment over the military men.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-35 Just look at that thing! That was the approach defended by many military leaders - a clunky, inefficient tank

tl;dr America is controlled by Zionist and stole land from Palestine to give the jews a "homeland" (zionis=/=jews) and mainstream media only shows propaganda supporting Isreal
#59 to #57 - unforgivenfive (09/21/2015) [-]
America is controlled by americans.

Zionism is simply jewish nationalism..similar to how you have german, russian, or american nationalism.
Zionisms main goal is to have Israel and to have peace. its fighting force the IDF are a Defense force. never once has the IDF started a conflict. they end them.
Palestine was more than just Israel. it was a combination of the lands of transjordan, south lebanon, and south west syria. these people in these areas (including jews mind you) all refered to themselves as palestinians..the christian and muslims were given the option to join the state.but the neighboring pan arab nationalists told them not to waste their time. stating that israel will be wiped from the earth as soon as it was formed (boy were they wrong)
the Pioneers of the state made sure to Buy every speck of land in before declaring statehood in '48 you cannot steal what you already own.
