Actually in the way it was used it would be "metal". The metaphor focuses on his armor, the shining perfection that it is, being undamaged due to a lack of conflict against a worthy adversary.

Personally I prefer the phrase having "steel" replace "metal" because in the current form it allows twits such as yourself the opportunity to be a failed grammar nazi.

If you look closely you can see that the walls are blown out. That was for the most part an abandoned area.
All around this guy is desert and he's sitting looking off at an alien world yearning for home. The feeling we had was one of isolation, but you're too damned pedantic to understand something so simple.

Sorry, I think of isolation as more... foreign or alien. I guess that does apply with regards to this, but when you're tied to humanity, I don't see it as isolation in it's most extreme form. I wasn't trying to be insulting.

That Marine is named Gains. He's black and every other word out of his mouth is ****** . He'd constantly complain about how the white man was keeping him down and would try to get out of work constantly. He was the only black guy in our platoon and did nothing but bitch all the time. And he was stupid. He once asked me how to spell the word clear; he thought it was spelled with two E's.
But it's a nice picture.

The funny thing is, I was just about to ask which race he was, because you can only see the back of his neck (which is typically the most sun-exposed area). He could be a really tan white guy, dark hispanic, dark Arab, Indian, or black. Without your explanation, it would've remained a mystery to me.

I've never seen an agnostic claim to be one because of respect. There might be some, but usually it's got something to do with the fact that we don't know wtf was before Big Bang. It might not be a big chance, and I personally don't think there is, but it's still probable.
