I think for some people, video games are an escape into a world where you have meaning and power and make yourself something great because in real life, things are just **** and its just easier to mentally block that reality and the **** going on, and embrace a different one.

Video games do indeed offer an easier and better world. Just yesterday with the new GTA update I thought. : so 4 bucks give you a Bugatti , 32 Bucks a Yacht ... and then you just drive around in a world where you can do whatever you want. What does the real world offer ? Nothing! you have to work to get anything.

people preach about how the world has so much to offer and so many beautiful things to learn and see, but those (few) peopel are the ones with the money and ability to do it all. to get money you need a job. to get a job you need a car and a place to live. those cost a ton of money just to have, so you arent actually MAKING much money at all. solution? geta better job? well for that you need experience and education. That takes a **** TON more money, so now you have student loans and you MIGHT get a job in your field. Then you have to spend money on living, working, and student loans. You are going to spend years of your life trying to make enough money to live and if you have a child anywhere in there, you are going to have A LOT less. So now where do you find the time, money, and opportunity to explore this "wonderful world" those people preach about? You have bills to pay, a job to be at that you can't jsut leave for vacation at will, you have a family to look after...

im saying this and im going to a community college for nursing school. It isn't too expensive, i'll ahve minimal loans beacuse I have people helping me pay for it, I only have to work part time, and I WILL be able to find a job in my field. I also plan on not having kids until my late 20s and im 22. My life is laid out before to be so good, but I understand what other people have to go through. I see my friends and family go through it. Even though it may not be my fate to be held down by life, I know that I got lucky. I know that I have opportunity others didn't get. The world isn't fair, and I feel there are changes that could be made to give more people opportunity like me.

Escapism is mental diversion by means of entertainment or recreation, as an "escape" or dissociation from the perceived unpleasant, boring, arduous, scary, or banal aspects of daily life.
