Using the word tortured is an emotional appeal to make it seem like we are morally wrong to do what is natural.
Are lions cruel and evil for eating an animal?
Humans only get disease when you eat too much meat (which a lot of the US population does, I may as well.) but a proper diet is somewhere around 30% meat and 70% fruits, grains and such.
I understand if you don't want to eat animals products, by all means if you do not like doing it then never do anything like that. Many ways of living have been developed just so people can live healthily without animal products.

Read the book "Why we love dogs, eat pigs and wear cows" Melanie Joy PHD

Carnism is the violent ideology that treats animals as object with no value.

Cows are gentle loving creatures and pigs are smarter than dogs.

Humans need exactly zero meat.

We are not even omnivorous anyway. ( If you think we are, double check your brainwashing and think about it)

Watch Earthlings or any slaughterhouse footage for that matter and try tell me it isnt torture.

Do you care about children starving to death because their food supply was sold to overseas meat industry to fatten up livestock?

Do you care about your own health?

Do you care about the environment?

Eating meat is the most destructive act possible. On more than one level.

You cant feel good having a chunk of flesh fermenting in your colon anyway. The odour leaks out of your armpits and then you become a victim to deodorant companies.

If you are going to drop that ******** phrase humane slaughter you may as well retire your brain and dig your own grave.

An unethical action is not made ethical by what comes before it.

If I buy a ladie flowers before drugging her and ******* her unconscious body. It does not make it "humane rape". Its just rape.

Letting less than 1 percent of animals have some fresh air before they are killed at a young age is murder. Unethical. Immoral.

All i see is alot of opinions based off little knowledge. how many cows have you raised? I think you also need to look of some definitions. I.E. Murder is the unlawful killing, with malice aforethought, of another HUMAN. there is no malice and no humans involved in a industry driven by profits, damaging cows/meat simply isn't effective. As far as health you have yet to list a reason(and even if you did, people still smoke so good luck with health being relevant). Either you're trolling your you're really up a creek

>Not meant to be omnivores
Now, you can call me a brainwashed sheeple and refer to a bullcrap phd all you want, but try this out on your own. Go out and walk 5 miles. 10 miles. 15 miles. If you don't run, this would be quite easy. Try that on a cow or a deer now. The deer will fall over dead long before you. Why? Humans have relatively insane endurance in comparison to other animals, because that was how we hunted back in the day. If we were strictly herbivoric, evolution wouldn't focus on endurance and would instead increase the variety of plants we could eat and running speed if we needed to get out of a predator's reach. Considering you can't eat grass and tree leaves and you can't outrun someone on a bicycle, I doubt we were all meant to eat just plant material.

>Decayed flesh of a tortured animal
You obviously haven't seen a farm or know anything about how meat works after death. Bacteria do decompose meat almost immediately after death, yes. So do plants and other biological products, which are covered with trillions of many types of bacteria. Your body has defense systems that can handle it up to a point. Which is why refrigeration, vacuum packaging and such exist for both types of food. Also yes, factory farms exist and some slaughter houses can be nightmares, but just like how a properly raised plant is a tasty plant, a poor environment and adrenaline from panic and a slow slaughter severely affects the quality and taste of meat and I usually avoid places that sell it such as most fast food restaurants. Many animals, especially freerange, usually are subjected to a bolt to the brain that kills them before they could even feel it, making it rather humane and keeping the meat quality high.

Veganism isn't evil, but no one appreciates attacks on meat-eaters. Most of the world eats meat in some form. Most are healthy and don't have any problems from it.

Not all animals were tortured, I agree that the US and lots of other industrialized nations do treat their livestock poorly. Chicken coops and conditions for cattle are notably bad. Animals are almost ALWAYS killed instantly when they are butchered. I get a lot of my chicken from free-range farms and I also get my beef locally. I live in an area with lots of farms, I have been to farms a fair amount and my friend's family runs used to run a massive farm and traded cattle until they sold their stock for good. They weren't fed anti-biotics as that isn't legal here, they were grazed regularly, I see cows in the field all the time in the summer, they are outside a lot.

None of those local delis are selling me anti-biotic fed and tortured animals, they were well kept. I understand being pissed about how animals are treated, though. You don't need to assume everyone is a terrible person for it.

without meat (which is a staple food) we wouldn't have survived at all up to now. Vegan came about 70-80 years ago, so einstein is out and anyway he was a vegetarian.

vegetarian came popular about 100-200 years ago.

da vinci was no way a vegan, he used eggs and stuff to his painting works, so he is a vegetarian at the very least and thats only a 10% that he is.

pythagorus wasn't a vegan either, he was a vegetarian and that was because of the religion or for a ritual thing didn't read to fully into that so its not because he liked animals or hated them being killed.

Tim Sheif became vegan in 2012, since then he isn't the worlds best parkour like he was in 2009/10.

can't say about Patrick Baboumian or Scott Jurek, however running the most and being the strongest man in the world arn't really traits you need anymore so its pretty useless.

Cognitive dissonance.

Besides Bill Gates and other billionares are investing heavily in mock meats.

I am closer to being fruitarian myself, I eat like a kenyan runner. But mock meats are getting pretty ******* good.

The trajectory of the meat indusry is heading towards collapse.

The practice of harvesting animal corpses is unsustainable.

As long as it lasts (if it ever collapses), I'll continue eating my meat and refining my cooking skills. I think meat's a good thing. If you think (and this is an opinion) that you have, by all means, to be a vegan / vegetarian etc. that's good for you. Just k´lower your voice and don't press your lifestyle on other people. Either they are willing to live vegan or they're not. It is their decision. Same thing with people smoking. I don't smoke but I also don't insult people who do. If they want, i let them.

Moral is, always, subjective.

You are doing something harmful. I do not respect your choice to do that.

Meat is good. It is incredibly unhealthy and a waste of resources to produce.

1. There is a difference between vegan and vegetarian.

2. The word vegan wasn't invented until around the 1940's, so it's nearly impossible to discern if anyone before that was vegan or vegetarian.

3. Einstein was only a vegetarian at the end of his life, and it wasn't for dietary reasons, he just liked animals.

i'm going to reply to you only this once you little ******* ******* because you just insulted some of the greatest people to ever care about my race.

You're an asshole, who only lives for your own little agenda, yes some animals experience undue torture at the hands of man but you know what. Without the consumption of meat you and your high and mighty self wouldn't even be able to form a coherent sentence let alone use a computer.

Meats higher calorie intake allowed humanities ancestors to develop at an extreme rate and the fact that we have canines indicate that we were in fact supposed to eat meat. While some choose to not eat meat and that is their prerogative trying to force people to do something they don't want to do is equivalent to slavery. Also it's the consumption of meat by your ancestors that allowed them to reproduce and advance to the point where your extreme vegan ism could exist

Tlr you're an asshole, My Ancestors are smiling upon me can you say the same

Wrong. Meat is responsible for our devolution.

The human brain has been shrinking for 200 thousand years as a result.

The human race is now the sickest it has ever been with the highest rate of animal product consumption.

The China Study, largest epidemiological study ever conducted confirms this.

"Meathead" is not a compliment. It refers to someone who is constipated, clogged up with saturated fat and whose brain is deprived of carbohydrates.

Eating too much meat results in being sick. So does eating too much carbohydrates (white wheat) etc. Generally eating too much, too. Low/non carbohydrate/starch diet has a very good effect on your health. Your liver makes glutein out of protein, if you're worried about that. People nowadays eat too much carbohydrates, so meat is only partially to blame.

I agree to some point with the cruelty thing - I just watched a documentary about the production of meat (no vegan vs meat eating), and they drove pigs around from Poland to Germany to Denmark, and sometimes the original country was lost. For some reason, it's cheaper. But not all meat is produced like that, and I have no bad feeling about eating animals coming from "old-fashioned" farms, or hunting (if the population is stable).

If you're a vegan, then all means be, as it is easy if you know what you're doing. My opinion is that human population is too high, and should gradually get reduced (=not make more [unwanted] babies).

Okay, honestly, Vegans get more hate than other people. Those Vegan posts you see on Funnyjunk? The ones that involve a screaming vegan banging on the floor screaming about eating 'Animal Carcass'? Most of us are not like that.

Often people think that we are the bad guys. Ten times a day we get badgered for just not eating meat.

I do not care what the hell you eat.

But I expect you to do the same. I won't criticize your diet if you don't criticize mine.
