He WAS a badass

He wasn't even actually short

And he had balls that wouldn't break if a 600-lb cow wearing high heels stepped onto them

That guy wrecked me the first time I fought him.

To be fair, he's supposed to be the first fight that really makes use of the buffs/debuffs system. He's only tough if you've been bruteforcing your way through fights with strength.

Napoleon was actually a pretty damned good leader. The only reason he was hated was because he DARED to disrupt the balance of power in Europe, an upstart with no royal blood as the Emperor of a world power? That was unheard of back then. Oh how the tables have turned...

User avatar #195 to #193 - alcantara (09/05/2015) [-]
Other way around; British propagandists caricatured Napoleon as a short man in order to make him the subject of ridicule thus diminishing fear of Napoleon as a military leader. Realistically, Napoleon was of average height, but it is easier to raise morale with a laugh by making out a feral midget is the one attacking your person; simply hold him at arms length and watch his cute little arms flail in vein!
#213 to #195 - innocentbabies (09/05/2015) [-]
Above. He was average for the French aristocracy, the myth started for a number of reasons that I cba to go into on my phone, then the cartoonists ran eith it.
User avatar #197 to #193 - etiennesk (09/05/2015) [-]
The misconception arose primarily due to the differing definition of a "foot" in England and in France. (Since it used to be determined by the kings' feet, and not every king had the same length of for). In France, a "foot" was longer than an English "foot", so when England heard he was 4'11" I don't remember his exact height in French imperial units , they thought he was hardly the size of a toddler, though he was actually somewhat average for a European male at the time (5'6" English Imperial Units).

There's jokes that it was due to this discrepancy between his height that he decided to promote a universal measuring system (SI) to deter this form of misconceptions.
User avatar #210 to #197 - FirstSrMeme (09/05/2015) [-]
It was also due in large part to his imperial guard. The men who were essentially his body guard were, on average, around 6 ft tall (really tall for the time) so he always seemed short beside them. 5'7 was the average height for men in France at that time.
#199 to #193 - darcnessvoorhees (09/05/2015) [-]
That's still rather small for a male.

User avatar #156 to #155 - commencingfailure (09/04/2015) [-]
Castro was widely seen as dictator, as is Aliyev. Putin is not
User avatar #159 to #156 - agronimo (09/04/2015) [-]
I don't think it's at all about dictators, mate, or else they would have added Fulgencio Batista before Castro. I believe the point is to expose politicians with a bad reputation for their disregard of the human rights, a disregard Putin has shown a few times in the past
User avatar #161 to #159 - commencingfailure (09/04/2015) [-]
Or he just added the ones he knew. I must admit I never heard of Batista until you now mentioned him while I do know all of the ones in the OP
User avatar #166 to #161 - agronimo (09/04/2015) [-]
That's because his dictatorship was promoted and manipulated directly by the US government, and thus has become an obscure speck of history everybody seems to either forget or ignore And yeah, it's pop art, the author is trying to appeal to a mass audience only portraying the most well known and hated of them. As a spanishman I feel they should have also added Franco, to say the least
User avatar #168 to #166 - commencingfailure (09/04/2015) [-]
**** the spoilers Yea I do know Franco, had he put him into there I would've recognized him. Could have replaced him with Vladimir. You study/studied history? For my knowledge on trivial things is usually pretty great but yours is clearly greater.
