My Black Friday experience:

* Browsed Amazon for a few hours
* Settled on a second monitor and a gaming mouse

Yeah, I just went on Newegg and got a 4K monitor for $400 off. Was pretty nice.
User avatar #121 to #95 - captchakid ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
But was it the 4k 144hz 1ms gtg one though?
User avatar #125 to #121 - wyrddarcnyzz (11/30/2015) [-]
4k 60hz 2ms. Was there one like that? I mostly got it because it was hella cheap.
This is the one I got: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009659
User avatar #128 to #125 - captchakid ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
I got this one www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=psdc_1292115011_t

Because I don't think my computer can push 4k or 2k pixels. Only got crossfired 7850's.
User avatar #157 to #128 - rohypnol (11/30/2015) [-]
I use two of those monitors, very nice.
User avatar #129 to #128 - wyrddarcnyzz (11/30/2015) [-]
Ah, not bad. I'm not sure how fast 1ms vs 2ms is in actual practice, or if I'll even notice it, or the difference in refresh rates. Like I said, I just got it because it was cheap and I kinda wanted one for a while now. But now that I have a new job, I intend on building a whole new rig, one that's capable of showing off everything the monitor is capable of. It's gonna be sweet.
User avatar #132 to #129 - captchakid ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
Good **** . I need to upgrade quite a few things, but for now I'm happy with running most of my games at a steady 60 on max if they support crossfire.
User avatar #134 to #132 - wyrddarcnyzz (11/30/2015) [-]
Yeah, it really hit home how old my current setup is, when I realized I have to run Fallout 4 on medium to get any good gameplay out of it. All I have right now is a GTX 660 and a middling CPU. I plan on migrating my OS onto my SSDs and reusing them, though.
User avatar #137 to #134 - captchakid ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
Yea I run Fallout 4 on medium as well. Was the first game I've had to do that to so far. I think it's a cpu bottleneck for me though, because I have a FX 6300. Going to overclock it sometime this week, once I get my Hyper 212 Evo cpu cooler.
User avatar #140 to #137 - wyrddarcnyzz (11/30/2015) [-]
Nice. Never got into overclocking, to be honest. Seems too easy to **** up and push your components too hard. Plus, my stock fans... aren't very good, so I'd need to get more equipment for it.
User avatar #141 to #140 - captchakid ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
Yea this will be my first time overclocking. However, it's well known that AMD cpu's are very easy to OC. Everywhere I look says that with an aftermarket cooler, especially the 212 evo, you can get 4.5Ghz easy. With water cooling you can get up to 5.0Ghz. It's pretty hard to **** up your system through overclocking, unless you use stock coolers. In fact, for AMD cards, using a stock cooler at stock clock speeds can lead to overheating.
User avatar #145 to #141 - wyrddarcnyzz (11/30/2015) [-]
Yeah, stock fans are basically awful. Thankfully, I live in Minnesota, so when I need to cool off my computer, I just throw on warmer clothes and open a window. My tower sits right under the big window in my living room, since my apartment is tiny, so it immediately gets cooled down, and I don't have to listen to the fans whirring away and distracting me.
User avatar #148 to #145 - captchakid ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
I live in Phoenix, so opening a window near my pc would melt it.

my Black Friday experience:
'twas the day before my birthday
(an explanation of the my background) living in two different places. near university and with my family. too far away to drive by car, at least a 3 hour drive or a 1 hour drive and 2 hour train ride. also too expensive to do by car. saving money by travelling by train because planning a holiday next year to Japan, so I have to save some (a lot of) money. my Dakimakura's in my apartment near university, want parents to come and get me, but it's too far away. (don't want to take train with Dakimakura because it's weird and I have a fear of Dakimakura starting to smell different from usual)
not looking forward to sleeping in an ice cold room without Dakimakura.
go to otakusky.com , order another Dakimakura, same print as the one I already have, but no Black Friday deal on it
damn
User avatar #105 to #58 - cloakndagger ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
I can't tell if you're serious or not...Who the **** admits to owning a dakimakura?
User avatar #114 to #105 - beldepinda (11/30/2015) [-]
Meh, I see nothing wrong it tbh. Everyone has a hobby or habid(s) that people find strange. While they enjoy it themself. I for instance like to airsoft while all of my lab colluages around me think me that I am very violent because of that. (I never was aggressive or hostile against any of them)
User avatar #117 to #114 - cloakndagger ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]
I wouldn't really call it wrong. I can understand the appeal of snuggling with a pillow. I just can't fathom why someone would openly admit to getting a character printed on a pillow and snuggling with that 'character.' That seems like something you would keep quiet.
User avatar #120 to #117 - beldepinda (11/30/2015) [-]
True, only what happens here is that this is the Internet. And on this site you can say anything you want and be anything you like. And maybe even find someone who likes it the same way. And for letting his parents know, eh I don't know about that one. Hard to say since I don't know exactly on what foot he is with his parents.
#170 to #120 - trevanman (12/01/2015) [-]
I actually have a pretty good relationship with my parents.
when people hit puberty, they often rebel against their parents.
I didn't. my sister did.
that's the way I was raised
User avatar #171 to #170 - beldepinda (12/01/2015) [-]
Ah sweet, my parents would probaly support it 2. But they would eye me strange afterwards but not say a thing about it.
#169 to #117 - trevanman (12/01/2015) [-]
I will soon own 2.
and yes, I admitted I have one (and of course, soon 2)

it's not about getting a character printed on a pillow. it's printed on a cover. you have to buy the inner pillow on the side.
I got mine because I didn't agree how the girl on it was rejected in her series, but not until far after the series ended. I needed to pass a kidney stone first and then sorta convince my parents that it would keep me a bit warmer at night. nights in Norway are cold
#122 to #117 - anon (11/30/2015) [-]
Well if you were on fj a decent amount then you'd know that a large amount of people often known for owning pillows with characters on them also are either buff sport stars, buff military persona, or just buff black guys. But you know, fj circle jerks about that but considers a random user who admits to getting one as a faggot.
User avatar #119 to #117 - captchakid ONLINE (11/30/2015) [-]

Walmart employee experience

*Arrive three hours after it started, immediately going around helping people
*Saw my coworker with Giantism get hit by a customer with a soundbar
*Saw undercover tackle a dude into the meat wall
*Customer tries buying 2,000$ worth of **** for 400$, gets arrested
*Get annoyed so I took off my vest so I could actually work and get freight, go backs, and returns taken care of without being bothered
*Sold a guy 4,000$ worth of Nerf Guns, was pretty sweet
*Roof of the green house/ garden center got blown off, had me and others chasing after the pieces in the parking lot in the High wind and snow, so now there's a giant hole in the roof.
*Saw my manager sneakily buying stuff while being hidden
*Got slapped
*Was offered drugs if I gave a customer an iPad for cheaper.

I love my college town, there're 2 universities and a community college in the town so a huge percentage of the town is either university employees or part of one of the infinite number of restaurants or real estate companies.

Whereas my hometown is basically a feeder suburb for Chicago commuters.

Completely different environments, it's crazy.

>I start walking up front, but I stopped in the card isle since no one was there.
>Called my boyfriend and asked what the **** was happening at Walmart.
>He of course asked why.
>After explaining what happened he told me to go up front and get in line and do not put the Playstation down for anything.
>15 to 30 minutes later he runs up to me in line and just looks so relieved.
>I ask what's wrong.
>He says "it's Black Friday and you can't do this by yourself."
>I reply with "Oh..." and we go through the line and I end up buying the Playstation.
>I wanted one anyway and had been saving for it so I didn't mind to much.
>Once in the car all I can think is ITS ******* THURSDAY!
>I went to Walmart for C batteries for my grandmother and left with a Playstation 4.

Why does Black Friday start on Thursday?! It wasn't anywhere near as bad as people described to me. To be honest it wasn't bad at all. I didn't even know it was happening till it was to late. People were weirdly polite for people in my town but no one got hurt and no one got arrested at the Walmart I went to. I saw no fighting. All I saw was people rushing around with carts full of kids toys.

I mean, you have to understand it varies wildly from city to city. Totally different cultures, socioeconomic status, and demographics. So inner city Oakland California is going to be much different than Boise Idaho. The videos you see are generally from heavily populated areas or poor areas.
User avatar #16 to #12 - thelastamerican (11/30/2015) [-]
If the news people can't find something to be hype about they'll make something up. Black Friday is like a get out of jail free card for them. Somebody somewhere will act like an ass and someone else will get it on tape. Boom. Instant news story. Good job on getting the playstation. Reminds me I need to put a new fan in mine.
User avatar #18 to #16 - JadeKitten (11/30/2015) [-]
Is that a problem? The fan breaking I mean. I didn't really do much research on the Xbone or the Playstation. I just knew Bloodborne is on Playstation.
User avatar #19 to #18 - thelastamerican (11/30/2015) [-]
Oh no, my bad. It's a first run playstation 3 I bought about 6 months ago for $40. It plays for about an hour, then you start seeing pink artifacts pop up, then the game freezes entirely. I'm pretty sure it's a cooling problem. I'm going to take out the tiny baby fan and replace it with a 4 inch fan and duct it in with sugru. Playstation 4 is pretty solid. All my friends bought one and they love them.
User avatar #29 to #19 - JadeKitten (11/30/2015) [-]
That's good. I'm sort of going from PS 2 straight to PS 4. I have a PS 3 but my dad got more enjoyment out of it with COD, so I just let him have it. The only problem I've had with my PS 2 is it just kind of died because it was so old. So if that's the only issue I think I can live with it.
User avatar #30 to #29 - thelastamerican (11/30/2015) [-]
A couple months before I got this playstation3 I had one of the old Xboxes (The first one, goddamn it's hard to describe what generation of Xbox you own. It's like they purposefully named them to be difficult to talk about) and it decided stop working and now whenever I try to boot it up it just flashes an orange light at me until I turn it off.
User avatar #32 to #30 - JadeKitten (11/30/2015) [-]
So the 360? I guess. I think you got that ring of death thing. I just bought the newer one with more space after that happened to mine. The original only had the problem of wanting to spit my games back at me with extreme spinning action. The Xbone (Xbox One) is the one I swore I'd never get. The next one they make has to be ground breaking for me to go back after the giant middle finger they gave their fans with the original plans for it.
User avatar #33 to #32 - thelastamerican (11/30/2015) [-]
No, the first first one. The xbox with the green dot on top. I accidentally left it running once when we went on vacation and came back to the halo theme playing softly from within the confines of the basement.
User avatar #60 to #33 - JadeKitten (11/30/2015) [-]
Well at least it wasn't the COD theme. I've left some things on or forgotten them some where before so don't feel bad. Like the original Gameboy. I forgot it at my mom's house one day and my little brother destroyed it. There was also a time I was cooking and for some reason at one point I left our Tv remote in the fridge.

I have seen stories of the most absolutely crazy stuff happening on black Friday. Never heard of someone going to a store and not knowing its black Friday. That's a real special kind of ignorant.

If you go into a store on black Friday for a jar of pickles you shouldn't get special treatment. It was your own dumb fault for going into a store on Black Friday and it was your own prerogative to stay there when you found out.
