ive found that you can hit your companions with the butt of your guns to get them to move, it doesnt make them "dislike" you either. Piper is my lover but i still beat the **** outta her when shes in the way
I went Piper romance too, but that was before I found out Curie gets transferred into a synth, and you can romance her. I know what I am doing on my second play through.
On a similar note, its fine that they threw in a romance aspect into the game, but I wish they did more with it. All you get is a few lines of dialogue, and then a perk. Nothing really happens.
I found some glasses and a hat that both give +1 charisma, and if you rescue the dude in the supermutant tower in boston (there's a radio signal asking for help) he gives you a +3 charisma suit. I basically just put all those on before every conversation and I never lose a speech check (plus you can quick save during conversations just in case)
That's a load of cock really if you ask me. I mean it's accepting polygamy but at the same time it's not because it's not addressing polygamy as a whole. It feels more like the romance was just so quickly hammered in that they completely forgot to add some kind of inter-character interaction as a result of polygamous relations.
But in the end it's not one polygamous relationship but instead multiple singular relationships. It's just like Mass Effects system but instead you're not actually capped to one relationship.
You could easily get the same effect from Mass Effect by removing the limiter. A bunch of relationships in which the characters are for the player but the relationships overlapping one another is not addressed whatsoever.
It's something that should warrant SOME dialogue at least; being polygamous is a conscious lifestyle choice after all so having some characters aware of the situation makes it feel fresh and alive. Instead it just feels like they misplaced some code and instead of a limit you're free to do whatever rather than a conscious design choice and as such people are reaching for it as if it's revolutionary.
**** these people who thuimbed you down, i havent even met this "Curie" chick its not really that much of a spoiler, plus i mean how long do we have to wait for these plebs to beat the game before we can start talking about it? i mean **** im already 35+ hours in and about to beat the game oh and by the way danse is a synth and you have to execute him for Elder Maxson, you then take his spot as a Paladin for the brother hood
Apparently revealing the first mission in a quest line for a companion is considered a spoiler, as well as saying where to find said companion. I was unaware, but now I know. Such is life.
He might not call you Blue with that cripplingly cute accent, but Nick Valentine is a guy I'd rather have behind me than any girl in the Commonwealth, in fact, my adoration for Nick is the reason I helped the Railroad in the first place.
Did... did he just choke slam a ************ ?
I've seen Piper judo throw and Cait go Singular Attack Jack on someones face, but Nick "the smooth" Valentine just choke slams a bitch. Nice.
Piper and Valentine are by far my favorite companions.
I like Piper's almost dorky personality as well as the fact that she genuinely wants to make a difference and help people.
I absolutely love Nick too, while he doesn't have the adorable dorkiness, he has this confidence and a kind of swagger I hate using that word but it fits him. that comes with him. Also the fact that he is an honest and caring person who wants to help people because he can, and he's funny as **** too.
out of the first 25 hours of my game i only did minuteman quests
the rest of it was scavenging for parts so all 7 or 8 of my towns would be booming cities covered in turrets
I have explored more often than not. I haven't even touched Fallout Sim City yet, and I probably won't with this play through. Honestly, right now I am having fun reading the terminals, going through some of the more wacky quests (Silver Shroud Away!), and just looking around at some of the derp **** going on. I think Fallout 4 is a little too edgy at times, but they have enough funny **** to still keep me pretty interested.
All the fallouts have had ****** up **** in them. A world after nuclear war would not be a happy place and fallout reflected that while still having some humor. That's not "edgy".
There are some other amazing quests as well, and I am attracted to the quirky as hell quests. Silver Shroud stands out because I just recently got to the goodtown stuff.
If its the one I am thinking about, then yeah. Like I said, they went for the edgy as **** angle. There was a holo recording just south (I think) of Sanctuary about a pregnant girl and her lover. **** was pretty depressing. Also, if you care to delve into it, Cait's background aint great either
Same. Spent most of my time finding new settlements to scrap so I had enough scrap to build up sanctuary into the best shanty town in the history of the wastes.
If you plan on only having one floor homes, Use "hallway prefab" and "floor and roof" prefab to build your home. The hallway prefab turned sideways is basically a wall. Then use corners when nessassary. Entranceway wall to start if off. That way the entire home is roofed for you.
2 floors and beyond. No prefabs of any kind. Build with floors, walls, and UPPER FLOORS. These ensure the first and second floors look normal. Then the actual no **** roof of the place uses roofing material.
If you need help with building something specific and want to watch me do it, tell me what you'd like to see and ill upload it to youtube. Because FJ reduces quality to 240p i try to avoid it.
Also I was having trouble with doorways indoors. Also some other **** never snaps the way I want it to. I was trying to build a loft type building today, but I think I'm gonna start over and make a single floor building, cause I really like the look of those wood pillars indoors that you get in some of the prefabs (like the ones in the picture you posted)
>>#147, >>#133, Todd understood the importance of having girls follow you around and added not one, but at least two great companions. Many more probably i don't know of.
I don't want to give those pieces of **** my fusion cores. I'm a drug-addled, evil melee character for a reason! Think I could still get the quest if I murder my way in there?
Brief note on the lone wanderer perk, not sure if it's a bug they plan on patching, or something they're going to leave, but for the moment Dogmeat does not count as a companion (you can have dogmeat and the dmg resistance/carry weight bonus)
Oh you know what you're absolutely right, you can't have her as a companion, only as a temp companion for a quest, afterwords you only get to bring her coolant. But maybe some one will make her a companion. She's pretty great.
How i spent my time:
5% building settlements (couple walls a roof and a door + 10 beds a well and a couple carrots -> to the next one & it was a bit annoying to see that the settlement system was broken and when you leave one of your settlements their water supply/defences etc. go down to 0[you can check this in the workshop menu] leading to their happiness tanking after a while.)
20% encumbered since i threw away weapons and stuff after i got too much junk (that was a mistake since in the end i saw that i could have played the game from start to finish twice wearing power armor all the time before i would have run out of cores had 30 or so at the end)
40% doing new quests
35% doing ******* annoying repeatable quests just so i could get my relationship up with curie and to unlock the last couple settlements (it was really annoying to do the same kidnapping quest 5 times just to see that the enemies and locks kept respawning in the same building it was stupid of me but it was also pretty lazy to add so few kidnapping ghoul extermination locations & it was funny to see the same npc's claiming that they will join the minutemen over and over again even though they had been part of us for weeks)
^Same here mostly, except for the encumbered part which is probably more 2% for me. I've got a chest at Sanctuary Hills right by the spawn point so whenever I get overencumbered I just use some buffout and fast travel there to unload all my junk/excess equipment. Also haven't gotten into companion stuff yet, since the only companion I've started really liking (aside from Danse and Nick, although not enough to take them with me) was Strong and I can't stay with him too long at a time because he doesn't like it when I pick locks.
Just organize your inventory the same way you clean.
I put all my food aids in a container. then only removed what i actually used = dropped 50lbs
Then i always store all my looted junk all at once ( T ) at sanctuaries workshop, 10-40 lbs
Then i used an armor bench to create picked pieces of armor, gained 70 carry capacity.
I only travel with one heavy weapon and three regular weapons.
I make sure i don't have stupid amounts of anything. Like 50 radaways, thats 5 lbs.
Always transferring extra weapons and apparel to companion.
I always pack around 100-110 lbs before a quest and then i fill up at 370lbs (pack perk 2)
It feels good to manage within the limits of the game. The challenge is the fun part.
God dammit, that makes me wanna play Fallout right now. There's so much cool **** you can do like that. Plus planning stuff out like that is my fetish, so I'm gonna start doing that. I already do the junk thing. I just can't figure out what exactly it is that makes my bare minimum weight around 200. I think it's because I carry way too many weapons, most of which I rarely use. I also haven't tried armor modding, which I should do, because I really enjoy modding weapons and power armor. I haven't done it yet simply because I kept switching my armor and stuff, but now I think I'm gonna stick with the Brotherhood of Steel combat armor. Also do different companions have different carry weights? I usually give my companions junk or cool weapons/armor that I'm not gonna use at the moment, and I normally travel with Dogmeat sometimes Piper, cause romance. Not Strong, he's a bit of a faggot
Heavy armor. Multiple weapons. Yes sir that points to 200 travelling capacity.
Get a ranged weapon. Close weapon. And another of your choice. All different ammo loads.
Stick with one armor set. Mod the armor and make it pocketed (i think that's only for pieces though, you can still wear pieces of armor and be in power armor.)
For example grab a set of leathers, legs arms chest. Mod them at an armor station to be pocketed. And you gain around 60 lb carry weight i believe. That or 70.
I'm gonna start carrying this: .50 cal sniper, power fist or Big Jim , Righteous authority, and my Laser Musket and maybe my pipe rifle since I have so much ammo for it I think I'm gonna take either the pipe rifle or Righteous Authority, based on what kind of quest it is . I'm also gonna mod my BoS armor, and that should be it
Realistically, agreed. Unrealistically, I wanna be able to carry around my Fat man and custom missile launcher without having to pop back to Sanctuary every time i pick up a ************* coffee mug.
Exaggerations aside, I don't care much for authenticity if it breaks the flow of my fun, but I know there's also people who enjoy realism in their rpgs.
Oh trust me I get it. I carry 2 snipers, 1 shotgun, 1 combat rifle, and 3 pistols. Also all my different bits of armor. My clear inventory is around 120. I can normally clear a place or 2 before i have to head back. That seems fine to me since there's a perk to raise your carry limit. But hey, games are meant to be fun, so do whatever it takes.
I have yet to play Fallout 4, waiting until Christmas. I heard that the useless crap found on the ground is much less useless in this game. Is that true?
And for the record, junk items are broken down automatically while crafting. So when you're making a weapon mod you won't have to first break down items first, you'll just be deducted say some duct tape if you don't have enough raw adhesive.
I couldn't count the amount of times I've passed up a "bayoneted glow sights hair-trigger short muzzle pipe pistol" or some ******** along those lines for duct tape.
Only two built up places I have are sanctuary (I built a hugeass 4 story fortress and everyone lives in it, meant to be a personal home until I found that a) I didn't need that personal space and b) didnt know exactly what settlers needed at the time) and hangmans alley has all the top tier stores and otherwise is full of scavengers tables for getting loot.
Otherwise whenever I unlock a base I scrap everything then if it's already established, ill throw down a few machinegun turrets to keep the mobs away.
My settlements are basically army barracks with an organic vegetable garden. No decor, just the bare essentials and a lot of turrets. I use sleeping bags because they are the least costly beds and I pass off all of my unused weapons/armour unto the populace so that I don't need to defend every post that's under attack.
I got ass raped by a swarm of ghouls in Corvega when Dogmeat refused to get out of my road to let asses the situation. That place was a ******* nightmare for me to navigate.
Dogmeat go banzasi on the ghouls to me, then get the hordes attention allowing me to pick them off, one by one. or just wound them to they got about 10% hp and dogmeat snap their necks
boy you will hate the little Rancor pit" raiders got in a hospital or something.
only escape is to power up the door switch, hit the door switch, wait for it to open.
Wonderful... I only cleared out Corvega because I got a lucky shot with a grenade and killed all the raiders near those turrets where there was a retracted bridge.
