a lot of feminists bring up the fact that Lauren Faust regretted making this episode.

they don't tell you it's because of the sheer amount of hate and death threats she got from it.

In Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends they discovered Imaginary Friends don't age. At first this wasn't an issue, but as the decades went by it became a problem. It was more than just overcrowding, some children would imagine gigantic monsters, some imagined beings that were completely evil. Eventually the government had to step in, but it turned out to be far worse than they'd anticipated. Unable to stop them all, the monsters were rounded up onto an island which was then left abandoned, and after many years even the idea of bringing imaginary things to life was forgotten. However, some creatures including a cross-dressing devil lobster, a woman with hair made of snakes, and giant single-celled organisms made their way back to the nearest civilisation which happened to be a city named Townsville. Crime would run rampant in this city as monsters and evil masterminds made their way from the island to the city. One day a professor, in an attempt to fix the problem, harnessed the power of imagination into a chemical and used it to create 3 super-powered girls who could fight them back.

the girl versions heroes that already exist as men are pretty weak examples. same goes for just rebranding a current character such as thor as a female.

But Marvel has messed with so many mythologies that I'd just prefer them to make their own amalgamated abomination, separating their own interpretations from the original concepts so that they may become entirely exclusive from one another

User avatar #127 to #119 - angelious ONLINE (05/11/2015) [-]
legacy characters arent all that bad. for instance tim drake, damian wayne, kid flash, impulse.

neither are gender bent characters like supergirl, batgirl, power girl.

the thing that ruins this character are that its shoe horned in badly, its only reason of existing is to hammer down feminism via strawmen, every male character that appears in the femthor comic turns into a strawman misogynist and every female character automatically goes into full girl power. all in all. she is just boring anvil character with no real personality nor interesting stories.
#131 to #127 - oinos (05/11/2015) [-]
who who who and who? Legacy wha? None of those I've heard of. Or remembered.

And more reason to shun her and make her walk the walk of shame before entirely omitting her from all histories. Femthor deserves it.
User avatar #133 to #131 - angelious ONLINE (05/11/2015) [-]
tim drake, damian wayne are both robins. aka legacy characters. they took the mantle of robin after the previous robin had gone to do his own **** or died. they are all different characters with different personalities and strengths so they are interesting.

kid flash and impulse both grew out to be flash and kid flash.aka more legacy characters. wally was not as smart as barry(whom was also a legacy character of the golden age flash) but he was enjoyable on his own way. same with impulse. who as his name reveals. leaned more on impulse rather than rationality.

supergirl is cousin of superman. she is more about old school beat em up with some i dont belong here story in contrast to supermans more civil approach to things and feel good stories. power girl is earth two version of supergirl(aka alternative universe representation) who is also quite enjoyable on her own., and earth 2 storyline in n52 is one of the only really good storyline going on nowadays.

batgirl is the female sidekick of batman, whom is also a legacy character, having atleast 3 different girls take up the mantle. all of them yet again being unique in their own way makes them good characters.

and femthor isnt really such a new thing in world of comic books. specially marvel has been all about dropping those heavy anvils on people. which sometimes have been a great success (one of them jump starting the bronze age of comic books. aka creating the age of comic books we love and know today) and others....not so much.
#135 to #133 - oinos (05/11/2015) [-]
Ah, Batmans. The legacy of passed mantles. Batman is also not singular. Hence my lack of surprize. You forgot him though you mentioned the robins. I tended to never be a batfan, so I didn't know the names of the many before or after.

Great success? Green Lantern. Fanbase uprising. For rehash material.
User avatar #136 to #135 - angelious ONLINE (05/11/2015) [-]
batman has largely stayed single man job.

ofcourse there was the batman incorporate. and for a short while dick took up the mantle. and that french guy who i cant recall.

and gl what now?
#137 to #136 - oinos (05/11/2015) [-]
Nope.

The beginning of batman was actually because the previous got iced over by Mr Freeze hypothermia and died. Next one got Bane'd. Some instances actually hinted that the one that got freezed wasn't the first either. Etc etc. Mantles been passed is the point. Same as Robin. Though No batman has ever been brought back, unlike Robin, who became nightwing or whatever from all the trauma of having died and remembered it. Thanks Rhaz'a'gul(sp) for that one.
User avatar #140 to #137 - angelious ONLINE (05/11/2015) [-]
ok you have gotten the whole thing pretty ****** up...or you are ******* with me..but i feel benevolent enough to give you the benefit of doubt so.

original batman(bruce wayne) became batman after his parents died and stayed that way all the way untill darkseid shot him with omega beam, sending him into the past where he will live, die and be reborn untill the cumulative energy of all those lives becomes so big he explodes and destroys the earth, he got better during this time dick became batman, with damian acting as robin.

outside of that batman was out of comission after bane broke his back(one thing you got right) but he only went for half a year practice regiment to get back in shape under the tutelage of lady sheeva. after that he came back and took his mantle from dick(whom had take the mantle from the frenchie)

at no point has he ever been killed or even grieveously harmed in canon comics, by dr freeze.

and while it is true one of the robins died and came back. you took the wrong robin.

the robin in question was the second robin.who came back and took the mantle of red hood.

and as for "never came back" search for the trope "comic book death"

Its great comedy in style of silver age comics silliness when things didn't have to be grimdark and edgy. She pulls a guile hero and a tea with cthulthu in first few issues.

Hoof you're on another level than me with comics man. I mostly read stuff that isn't from Marvel or DC ('cept for Spiderverse and Kingdom Come).

I just can't get into complicated continuities. No matter how many reboots they do there's still gonna be one at one point, and it's a pain in my mind to keep the right sequence of events (like the aforementioned Spiderverse with those Spider Woman comics).

Though Squirrel Girl, from your description, seems to glide (heh) around that. Thanks for giving me your thoughts on it though, always appreciate it.

That's HR Giger.

It was his artwork that inspired Ridley Scott's Alien, and they got him in to work on the creature's design.

Not only that, his first two concept images were rejected for being too scary for the projected audience.

Rest in Peace, sweet prince.

What's bothering me lately from the feminist realm is how Hillary Clinton is trying to become president, and how she may well win it based solely on the grounds that she is a woman.
Don't get me wrong here; I think that men and women should have an equal chance at becoming president, but they should at least have something more to offer than a vagina that the voters don't even get to get a little bit of a whiff of.

Well, unless Republicans manage better than the current crop of presidential hopefuls I'll vote for her.
Not because she is a woman, but because in my opinion she would be a smaller disaster than the republican candidates.
Its still early, maybe Republicans do better, but considering last elections I'm not holding my breath.

In fact, feminists freaked out and got the episode banned.

Irony, thy name is liberalism.
