Unscripted Movie Scenes
Compilation
You' re going to need a bigger boat
While tossing buckets of chum
into the ocean to lure the deadly
great white shark, officer Brody
finally lays his eyes upon Jaws.
Filled with fear he stands and
says the famous line "You' re
going to need a bigger boat"
completely off script.
Luca Brass Respect Speech
The Godfather
While filming the respect speech in
The Godfather, Luca Brass
Lenny Montana) was supposed to
come in and give respect to Don
Corleone (Marlon Brando) and his
daughter but Montana was so
nervous to finally meet Brando
that he fumbled his lines creating
new words and stuttering. The
director loved this so much that he
added an extra scene of him
rehearsing his lines.
You hit me in the ear
Fight Club
At the beginning of the film Fight
Club Brad Pitt tells Edward Nutron
to hit him as hard as he can.
Norton was not supposed to
actually hit Pitt. However, before
the scene, David Fincher pulled
Norton aside to tell him to hit for
real. That is Pitts genuine reaction
creating the famous quote "You hit
me in the ear".
Think Fast
Being John Malkovich
A few extras decided to sneak some
beer on to the set. After Malkovich
wanders off mad on the side of the
road a man throws a can at his
head causing him to yell in pain.
This was the cause of one of the
extras thinking this would be a
perfect time to throw a can out of
the car. All was unscripted but the
director felt it added to the
character causing the extra to get a
raise and staid in the movie.
The Drill Sergeant
Full Metal Jacket
R. Lee Ermey was not originally
casted to play Gunnery Sergeant
but after submitting a video tape
of him yelling for 15 minutes
straight at a group of Marines he
was accepted. It is estimated that
Ermey improvised 50% of his dialog.
To add to all of this Ermy also wrote
150 pages worth of insults.
I hope you guys found this interesting
and learned something new.
I really enjoyed making these if you
want more leave a comment about
what subject if I pick it you will be

Adding to the R. Lee Ermey thing, FMJ was a Kubrick film and allowing someone to improvise lines was a total no no for Kubrick. Thats how impressed he was with Ermey, that he just let him act as he pleased

I watched Kubrick: A Life in Pictures yesterday, and it never said anything about how he hated improve. Instead it tells about how he always wanted actors to experiment and explore the scene until he got what he wanted. He would never really direct or tell the crew what is was about, but just film the take over and over until he was satisfied

to the untrained ear that sounds like bad directing

Yet Kubrick is one of the best directors of the last century.
User avatar #64 to #51 - LTB (10/05/2015) [-]
That's my bad then, I was under the impression that Kubrick really didn't like improv or going off script But it's too late, I have the thumbs and everyone's misinformed. So normal FJ

A Clockwork orange also had some improv during the rape scene
User avatar #24 to #23 - LTB (10/05/2015) [-]
Was the improv that it wasn't supposed to have a rape scene?
User avatar #25 to #24 - punisherswar ONLINE (10/05/2015) [-]
it was Malcolm McDowell singing "Singing in the Rain" he sang that cause Kubrick thought the rape scene was too stiff
User avatar #45 to #25 - makethingsworse (10/05/2015) [-]
It did add a lot to it! Rape is ****** up...but someone singing a song about how happy they are whilst raping someone? It adds an even more uncomfortable to an already revolting scene.
User avatar #26 to #25 - LTB (10/05/2015) [-]
The joke was the rape itself was improv, and there wasn't supposed to be a rape scene
But maybe my jokes are a little too stupid to understand

I'm sure he knew that I hope and was just answering in case anyone was actually wondering.
#28 to #25 - yoshtar (10/05/2015) [-]
I thought the song was redubbed as "Singing in the Rape" for that scene.

This moment in Half-Life was not scripted either.
Dr. Schneider was supposed to warn Dr. Freeman about the tentacles and explain his plan on how to remove it but then thie tentacles decided to just introduce themselves and demonstrate their abilities

apparently this was unscripted as well
User avatar #48 to #4 - Kadzait (10/05/2015) [-]
That was very scripted, I looked up the script of the movie just to disprove some tumblr feminist cunt at my school when she spouted this ******** .
User avatar #44 to #4 - lotengo (10/05/2015) [-]
That entire movie was unscripted. Depp was actually casted as a mid lvl accountant but he showed up with a pirate costume and the director just went with it.

Did you know in "The Terminator", when the Terminator was told that visiting hours were over, he was supposed to just punch the police officer through the glass before walking past him, but instead he improviced "I'll be back", and went and drove a real car into the stand, severely crippling the actor playing the role of the police officer.

James Cameron loved it so much he decided to keep it in the movie, and paid the actor's hospital bills.

I heard that he wasn't suppose to fall in the lava but Arnold slipped. The cameras just so happened to be recording and the directors left it in. He gave a thumbs up to say it was okay

Assuming the 150 pages of insults are formatted to script, that's over two hours of insults. 2 and a half to be precise
