That's some very poor writing, on both parts.

Were they both written by the kid?
Or were they both written by Michael J. Fox?

Did they confiscate the pen licenses as well?

(Or were those licenses just an Australian primary school thing...)

Only officially, same with Kangaroo licenses.

You'd be at the Queen's mercy if you were caught riding one without that, to be sure.

Congratulations on thumbing down one of the basic facts of human nature and trying to deny yourselves the fact that you contribute to it. We love war, it's in our nature. If there isn't war, we aren't happy; we all seek conflict so we can assert our stances on politics, social status or appearance. It's not just wars with guns and planes and bombs though, war on obesity, war on drugs, war on terror, war on social cleavage... hell, war on bringing our soldiers home. We literally can not go a day without waging war on something or other, and that is simply because we all love war. War is engrained in our history, it is our culture and our nature. We love war, and that makes every war, a good war.

War fuels the economy, unites people together, stabilizes the population, and makes the world interesting. While it may not be the first thing I'd use to handle negotiations, it certainly is the second option.

I never said it was good because it was natural, I said it was good because we love it. Tell me, if war isn't good for us, then why do we keep doing it both at home and abroad? As I said; war on obesity, war on drugs, war on terror. If it's soooo bad and we know it, why do we keep doing it? Because it's not bad, it's good. Don't even get me started on the benefits it brings to the economy, national pride, and societal cohesion. Look how everyone initially responded to the Iraq war. It wasn't until the novelty of deployment faded away that people decided they needed a new conflict to fight for. And then the war to bring the soldiers home began.

Figuratively speaking you could say we wage war on everything, but that's not what I meant. I'm talking about war in the most literal sense. War isn't good, and we should never accept or get used to it because "we love it". It's easy to love it when you're not directly involved but I can guarantee anyone taking part, voluntarily or not, hates it.
It comes naturally to us, it's always going on, and sometimes it's justified.
Is it "good"? No.

Most the people over there are there to fight because they enjoy it / thought they would enjoy it.

No other reason to be there

Or maybe they were raised to believe that serving in the military is an honorable thing to do? That is how I was raised.

I also know a lot of people in the National Guard who joined because of the GI bill and retirement plans. When my unit was called up most of us didn't want to go, and those who did only wanted to go due to the ass load of money you can get.

Being in the military means you are willing to protect. It's the morons in washington who thinks that the military should police other countries. Most soldiers just want to get paid and get out, not go and fight in someone else's war.

That is my two cents worth, anyway...
