Any sufficiently advanced technology would appear as magic, or godlike, to primitives.

Holy crap balls, this is one of my biggest comic book peeves. Thor and Loki and all of the Asguardians are not gods, They are an alien race that lives thousands of years and has a type of technology that to us is like magic. When they visited earth many centuries ago the locals saw their technology and started treating them as gods. Asgaurdians are NOT immortal, and are in NO way actual gods. The Marvel Universe DOES have its fair share of actual gods and spirits, but NONE of them are Asguardian.

I don't understand why everyone is so butthurt about the post calling Thor and Loki gods. Ok, they're not gods in the Marvel universe but they're obviously based on norse mythology so ... I think it's forgivable

That's actually perfectly plausible. Captain America met two superior beings from another Universe, that were most likely considered gods by ancient civilizations on Earth. The Abrahamic God could still exist beyond the realm of Earth and Asgard etc.

Just how, IRL, even if you have theistic/deistic views you can totally separate them from Abrahamism (I'm kidding, most mofos are too stupid for that) and notice that every existing religion is both stupid and made-up, a fact backed up by both logical an d historical arguments.

In their universe, the Asgardians are just technically aliens mistaken for gods by humans from long ago.

That would make me more of an theist if anything.

I don't understand why people keep trying to summon my sidekicks for, when I'm just a phrase away.

This is going to take a couple of post, but it’ll be a smooth injecting of sweet, sweet information for those who read it!

Only a couple of writers have penned Iron man as being atheist, and when they did that, it was only in a passing remark. But the truth is, it’s a lot more intimate than that. You know how people who can’t bare to settle down without putting down their ambition are ‘married to their work’? Tony is like that, only instead of his work, it’s with religion. In other words, he’s so deeply within his own head, seeing the elit ex machina, or the cogs of the machine, that he’s not interested in spirituality, or the afterlife. Where some people look to the past, or the future, he is a VERY present person, who sees everything around him as potential. This is both a good and bad thing, as it’s what helped him become the person he is today, but it’s also effected his ego (See the civil war; ended with Captain America killed).

I told you that so I could tell you this; he’s not an atheist, nor is he Christian or Muslim, or Jewish. He doesn’t have any affinity to religion at all, and merely absorbs whatever it is he can see, and uses what he can get his hands on to build a better future (Read: him). He’s the Mechanic. He’s basically Man personified. That’s not to say he doesn’t dread the past or fear the future, but he is, as I said, a very ‘present’ person.

Loki and Thor were powerful beings, not gods. They merely visited primitive man and gave birth to the legends of their godhood. Send Hulk or Iron Man back in time and the same thing would happen with them.

heh, this is usually only relevant in **** .

Just because they're worshiped as gods does not make them so. Thor is theoretically no different than Superman.....in relation to humans
