Theres no reason to change from your origin nations beliefs and customs when you are told that people who dont embrace them are "racist, oppressors". Of course there will be people who arent assholes about it either way about it, but telling people they dont even need to try is ruining the places they go.. a lot of the middle eastern traditions conflict with everywhere elses. Like the story a couple weeks ago where 2 teens killed a man in sweeden after he offered them food and clothes because he was gay. They wrapped a snake around his neck and tried to say "idk how it got there im afraid of snakes" then after that failed tried "homosexuality is illegal where i came from i cant help it". Theres bad eggs in every region but the % of bad middleastern immigrants seems higher than other places. Im not anti immigration im anti having people act like they arent apart of a new society that they need to adapt to.

orkamungus (01/09/2016) [-] I think that's a problem that stems form two sides: on the one hand the state, or politicians, have failed provide those folks opportunities to properly intigrate themselves, like language courses and **** like that. On the other hand those third generation turks and whatnot are often so far up their own ass that they won't even consider learning German on their own or adhearing to German laws and customs. Seriously, there are certain areas in some cities where you have to be very careful if you are not Turkish.
Regarding what the original post said: let them have their religion, after all we have the freedom of religion in Germany. I don't mind that they're Muslim. If they start creating sharia-law-zones however, or try to enforce their religion on other people, or act against valid German law, they should get a kick in the balls and be thrown out, end of the story.

Nobody was talking of the very specific case that was Barack Obama, but if we were there is a major distinction in that Obama was the son of an immigrant dad who left him in his youth and an all American mom. Plus he was largely raised by his all American grandparents. That's one anecdotal example that does nothing to disprove or counter the above arguments that immigrants will not often integrate into a community unless there are incentives for doing so.

orkamungus (01/09/2016) [-] I'll do something that's equally bold and stupid now and put out a theory here: the people who imigrate into Europe from the middle east usually come from a society where a lot of western values are not kno, which is why they for example bring up their religion at every opportunity, given that in the middle eats religion is a rather central aspect of life. Meanwhile people who have lived here in Europe for the larger part of their lives usually tend to live by western standards, which includes religion being a rather private aspect of life. People who are born and raised in a country should take pride in their culture and history, which involves a wary eye to anything foreign. While this should not turn result in racism (which does happen) a certain degree of stigmatism is warranted to foreigners (as would be experienced if Europeans immigrated to the Middle East). The natural result is that the immigrants give up, but also blend, aspects of their culture; dropping what is seen as too extreme, but also introducing to their new home aspects both find agreeable. Likewise, over time, the host country drops its stigmatism as the immigrants accept aspects of the immigrants way of life into their culture. Sure their will always be jarring reactionary forces that want nothing to do with each other, but if the immigrants show a healthy degree of deference and the new host country shows an acceptable level of tolerance, then immigration would work out much better, but as it is the host country is showing over-tolerance and immigrants are taking advantage of it to push their own culture.
