Here you go squadron of red thumb army. MMO- Massive Online Multiplayer, thousands of people play this gam. Role Playing Game- Your Role is to defeat the enemy team in many types of formats. First Person Shooter- You Shoot People in a First Person Subjective. Does this not make sense or has my 20 years of playing games like this all been a lie to me?

MMORPGFPS..

...wat? Massively Multi Online Role-Playing Game First Person Shooter

1) It's not Massive, I understand that numbers like 32-64 may appeal astronomical to console players, but srsly not, it's not even close to massive (thousands in RPGs e.g. WoW, hundreds in FPSs e.g. Planetside2)

2) It's not RPG, it's FPS

Sorry to disappoint you, but this is really just a FPS.

Actually, I think RPG fits. It isn't the tradition view of it, but you are playing a role, just like any other RPG. A technicality, but what can you do?

I believe MMO fits.

Massively doesn't strictly mean you're playing with thousands of people at once. Just that thousands of people play it. Obviously it's multiplayer and online. Similar to the way LoL is an MMO.

Thus, this would be an MMOFPS.

"Massively multiplayer"
Of course that implies that there are hundreds of players per map! Otherwise any popular online game would be massively multiplayer, even if only 2 people could play per game...

Ex..cuse me what? Role playing game..? Experience points do not equal a RPG. Oh what's that? You can use vehicles? I guess it's also a racing game too. Oh, you can sprint, jump, and throw things too? I guess it's also a sports game. Is the point hitting home yet, or do I need to keep going..?

An RPG is a game where you quest through various lands, exploring, opening story lines and developing your character down points of choices. Where does this happen in Battlefield? Or CoD?

Its not because a couple of games in a genre do something that it defines the genre.

jrpgs in general dont have choices but theyre still rpgs.
even then, i dont know about any recent FF but im fairly certain the old ones didnt have choice appart from who to pick in your party.

I could list a **** ton more of them that had game-altering choices in them, but I thought a few of them would suffice. The idea behind an RPG is immersion, to help you feel that you are shaping the story around your character. And just because you are ignorant of what games do and don't have what content in it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist or doesn't apply.

Mass Effect in general is a better game than anything Activision has shat out in the last few years. I've played both and was left disappointed by Black Ops 2, even with the various endings. ME3's endings were perhaps lackluster as well, but at least they put in the effort to give it closure with the patches.

That isn't only JRPGs. A lot of regular RPGs have that too, even ones without quite as many RPG element as their predecessors had. Skyrim, namely.
RPGs are characterized by levelling, adventure, gaining strength, and fighting in epic battles. Pewpewpewdead isn't especially epic, but firing a slender rod of wood tipped with stone a hundred feet, piercing through the eyes of your enemy is.

RPGs are also far more story based than FPS games, as a general rule. Now, there are exceptions, true, but this is for the most part. Call of Duty has a story, sure, but the best of all the CoD games doesn't come even close to Chrono Trigger, Tales of Vesperia, Mass Effect.
RPGs are adventure, story, beauty. It is an oftentimes carefree, hopeful venture that, somewhere, buried beneath layers of destruction, there is hope. It is something in which you can become very attached to characters, and where the storyline nearly always goes 10+ hours at the very least.
Call of Duty, there are maybe two characters that are well-rounded, developed characters. Tales of Vesperia, meanwhile, takes the most stereotypical character types and deconstructs them, creating imaginary people who feel real, and who you adore and become attached to and love.
Even if I do play shooters, and oftentimes enjoy shooters, don't compare them to RPGs.

Is it just me or do the recent BF games feel too much like a generic FPS rather than the destruction and mayhem that made BFBC2 and BF1942 such good games?

When i got BF3, I expected the same sort of game as BF2, just updated with better destruction physics and more streamlines gameplay. All it seemed to be was either clusters of massive invincible buildings, or just some open/all indoors map with clunky controls and awkward menus? Of the 6 hours I played on BF3, I honestly don't think I saw 1 building collapse.

Can I have an honest opinion that if I liked BFBC2 for its destruction and gameplay, will I enjoy BF4 anymore?

battlefield 4 has brought that back, you can take down entire skyscrapers in the game, killing everyone inside and that happen to be underneath it when it falls, the vehicle controls are much more open and free, like they have a commercial that plays on youtube where this guy shows how his teammate drove a quad into the elevator, out on top of the skyscraper, proceed to have a helicopter start shooting at him and fall to his death while his passenger parachutes away

In that level. You can destroy a lot of buildings in other levels also.

Personally, I dont really give a **** about being able to destroy every single building, as its hard enough playing as infantry. Taking out walls so infantry have no where to hide is just as effective, but without the ******** of having tanks lob shells to destroy objectives from miles away.

bad company 1 had this weird way to handle health
it won't regenerate, instead you had to press a few buttons to inject yourself with a syringe which magically regenerates after a few seconds

and there were no checkpoints, if you died, you just respawned
and that's a ****** way to make a game, since no matter how many times you die, you can't lose

The campaign in a shooter is negligible. I was refering to multiplayer. However to your point the death system was annoying when it affected you and the health system was better than every other shooter where you magically regen on you own. As for the story, i laughed more in that than in most every other game i played.
In multiplayer the assault class got the syringe which would heal over time and was far faster than other form of healing making them shocktroopers. IT was overall fairly well balanced.

BF3 logic: You can break any wall you want but the frame will ALWAYS remain, it does not matter what you do or how you do it, you can not make the building fall completely.

This is now a "best of" thread.

Had an opposite situation. Was the guy running to the lift. The map had a lot of common choke points, and people spawned/moving in clusters. Big map, full game, large groups. Pushing the button like my life depends on it and I watch as notifications for the guys outside the lift are being thrown up in waves. Last second I lob a grenade high for the back wall as the door activates.

The murder jamboree rolls the corner as the door closes. Hail of bullets meant for me.

I can only assume they never saw the grenade/panicked. Only decakill I will ever get in my entire life for any game ever.
