Hey FJ, everyone seems to be eager to know the origin of this video.
All I can say is that I found it on a random facebook page called "Anime=Cartoons Deal with it Weebs" if it can help any of you in your quest to find the holy grail of twitch trolling.
You need to scroll down the Weeb page quite a bit to find it
Actually cartoons = anime, but not the other way around, anime is shorthand for animation, cartoons are poorly defined. As such all cartoons are anime but not all anime are cartoons. Just sayian, its a common misconception about a misconception.
It really isn't bait though, anime comes from animation and is just engrish. It refers to all animation. But look up the definition of "cartoon" and what do you get?
Anime is short for Japan animation. Thus Anime are Animations stemming from Japan, Although it's a gray area when the actual animation gets outsourced to Korea sometimes.
Cartoons were originally comic strips, but it became synonymous with animations because of the similarities between early animations and comic strips.
Thus your statement is mostly correct, but it was horribly worded.
No, anime is short for animation, FOREIGNERS often use the term "anime" to refer to "Japanese animation" BUT the actual word just means "animation" in japan. Thats why the Japanese refer to cartoons as anime. Anime is literally just shorthand for animation.
It's shot for animation in Japan, but every where else in the world it's specifically for Japan animation. A little like how Comics from Japan are manga. Except there are much more noticeable differences between Comics and Manga.
You mean how D. B. Cooper was actually Dan Cooper but it was misinterpreted and now the entire world calls him D.B. Cooper?
Misconceptions make the world of popular culture go round my friend.
Not donations. Just comments. I'm pretty sure they just randomly read out those random English comments in the sea of Japanese ones since they stand out so much.
