There's nothing philosophical about it and neither is he trying be.

And if you think those are big words, that only says something about your own vocabulary.
He's using the right words for what he wants to convey, it isn't excessive, you can't cut out something (apart from the 2 analogies) without losing part of the reasons.
She/He is actually making a good point, in my opinion.

And the analogies are there as hyperboles to set the tone of the post.

(Plus for me there's a factor of entertainment when someone is very articulate in a passive agressive manner.)

Perhaps to you, but that might be a misinterpretation on your part.

I don't think it's that pretentious for three reasons:

1) He actually makes good points, uses the words right, conveys them in a coherent manner, not overly extensive in such a way he's making redundant points.
2) He probably genuinely feels this way about these types of comments (because let's all agree, they are ******* annoying)
3) He chose to be so expressive about for comedic value.

I think it's very narrow-minded to assume someone only could've made such a comment because "obviously trying to act smart here"
I could've made a similar reaction in a similar situation and it wouldn't have had anything to do with "trying to be smart".
It's just criticisism while venting anger in a playful way.
