I'm from China, and I can confirm that the one about us hiring people to sway the public opinion is false. The Chinese government is perfect, and would never try to use sneaky tactics like that on it's people.

Because a very absolutist country offered to send a democratic country millions of very indoctrinated people that potentially would've spied on the democratic nation, possibly endangering the people, economy, and well being of the democratic nation. That's pretty straight forward and clear.

oh? so they are just adding 10 million women to the generation that is already there and so they can become a super huge problem when they are too old to work? Because that's not what boosting the population means.

"so they can become a super huge problem when they are too old to work"

What kind of statement is this? what are you thinking?

#200 to #191 - twentyseconds ONLINE (03/30/2015) [-]
Would you call a sudden increase of the us population by 4.71% with a flick of the wrist a population decline?

I don't know why you think suddenly adding 10 million people to an area is not a population boost, but rather an attempt at forced sex.
User avatar #236 to #200 - turdvang (03/30/2015) [-]
they are talking about creating a bigger population growth not sending 10 million people on a vacation to USA, and where in hell would they find 10 million new jobs?
User avatar #240 to #236 - twentyseconds ONLINE (03/30/2015) [-]
This is a discussion on how adding 10million people to a population is a population boost you idiot, I didn't say anything about the jobs.

User avatar #249 to #240 - turdvang (03/30/2015) [-]
Ok you are right, it is a population boost, but, the thought behind it was still to create population growth you ******* retarded imbecile. Why the hell would they send 10 million women to USA to just stay there for there lifetime and then it would go back to 10 million less Chinese women, how is that a good idea?
#258 to #249 - twentyseconds ONLINE (03/30/2015) [-]
If I could redirect you back to my first comment, I was saying how its NOT SEX SLAVERY.
You are arguing that it is SEX SLAVERY.
Sure they CAN have sex, but NO ONE IS MAKING THEM.

Women are apparently not wanted in china, so they sent the people they least wanted, with or without intentions of sex.
User avatar #274 to #258 - turdvang (03/30/2015) [-]
In China its a lot of cultural things that makes having a daughter a can end up costing you a ******* of money, as of now only 40% of the Chinese population are women where in other countries 55% is normal. But that have nothing to do with the plan to send women to USA to help population growth, and trust me, they would have been forced to have sex.

Or, or, or he would have asked women if they wanted to live in the US and 10 million women said they would and as a result he contacted the US and asked. Simply knowing that they would start a family there is not selling/giving them away for them for sex. Do you really believe that the Chinese women would not want to have a family?
User avatar #227 to #195 - turdvang (03/30/2015) [-]
That's not how the Chinese communist government works tho... seriously they wanted to GIVE AWAY 10 million women, that is not the same as hooking 2 people up.

Pretty crazy, but the one child policy is pretty much still a thing, with a small change from 2013. In November 2013, following the Third Plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, China announced the decision to relax the one-child policy. Under the new policy, families can have two children if one parent is an only child.
User avatar #108 to #16 - thedungeonmaster (03/30/2015) [-]
Men are usually the successful ones in China so parents would rather have a boy so that he can support them in their old age. The pollution comes from all the industry thats in China. Textiles, steel production, mining, etc. are all horrid for the environment and China is the largest producer of almost all of these and their environmental regulations are less than acceptable by normal standards. If theres one country thats probably gonna **** this planet up, it's China.

Well, thankfully, at this rate China is gonna crash and burn. They're growing too fast and are too dependent, economically, on their population which will stop growing, since they have too many males and not enough females.
Also, they're slowly killing their people off in a way that, when it hits, people will die in massive numbers. Cancer's a bitch, and all of China's smoking the same, massive, unfiltered cigarette.

Not to mention that any free enterprise is their Government's domain, and they subsidize all exports so heavily in an attempt to saturate the market and destroy competition....... Yeah I guess if you take out fiscal responsibilities, individual rights, and complete lack of domestic market, that cheap labor and unrestricted pollution laws seem kinda promising. China is a capitalist's nightmare: it is the definition of what happens when the government controls the economy. Free market my ass kid.
#420 to #419 - xxxos (03/31/2015) [-]
Free international market on the max too , with dumping, blocades, and other ways of destroying competition (well, WTO sometimes stops them). Capitalism nightmare - i agree. Because it's full-on capitalism, with few oligarchs controlling all. Not like western capitalism with leftists trying to 'humanize' it.
User avatar #421 to #420 - lean ONLINE (03/31/2015) [-]
That isn't what capitalism is at all. What?? You need to read some Milton Friedman and get back to me with a definition of capitalism. What you describe is corporatism, cronyism, or national syndicalism. I promote laissez-faire, not the welfare capitalism or crony capitalism that is growing in the USA.

In a true free market no deal is ever agreed upon without a mutually beneficial outcome. Example: in the 1960's a man working behind the counter at the local gas station could afford to own his own house in the US. That was before minimum wage, and welfare was minimal. What has changed?
#422 to #421 - xxxos (03/31/2015) [-]
That's capitalism, the guy with bigger capital wins, sometimes it's china, this laissez-faire of yours is just nice theory, that doesn't see the end result where everything belongs to one person. Or that sides of deals are not equal, so one can force their will on others.

US is no more the only working economy after WW2.
User avatar #427 to #422 - lean ONLINE (03/31/2015) [-]
Do you know that the US economy is built on the backs of roughly 120,000,000 people? These people support all the funding and spending and welfare, and still produce a net profit. They drive an economy equal to that of the entire European Union. You show disdain for capitalism and have only a rudimentary understanding of it despite the fact that it is the single greatest economic system in regards to job availability, lack of stagnation, wealth inequality, individual economic mobility, and opportunity. Every person in the private sector in the US economy supports 2 other people fiscally, funds the largest combined armed forces military machine in the world, and except for one year since the 1870's has the most productive economy despite that. Please tell me about your vastly superior socialist economic model.
#101 to #16 - anon (03/30/2015) [-]
The one child policy isn't really a one child policy. It depends on what ethnic group you belong to. The 'Han' ethnic group has a one child policy, but they're like 90% of the entire population. I believe the 'Manchu' people (northern part of China) are allowed 2 or 3.

As for the pollution: the pollution in China mostly comes from China's excessive use of coal. After World War 2 China was in really bad shape and needed to recover. Since coal is really cheap and easy to get, that was the way to go. However it's not as bad anymore. Most of the stories on Chinese pollution are outdated. It exists, but since 2008-ish China has started to rely more and more on nuclear power.

Pollution in Beijing is worse than other places not only because of factories and such, but because it lies at the bottom of a valley. All of the pollution from the surrounding area just falls on Beijing.
#17 to #16 - anon (03/30/2015) [-]
Factories mostly. The vast majority of the world doesn't want to poison their own air, so nearly every other first world country exports their production and labor to china so their population has to deal with all the pollution and waste instead.

the majority of the pollution and waste in china is from outsourced labor and production.
#37 to #17 - anon (03/30/2015) [-]
They also just do not give a **** about pollution so when they're building factories they don't bother with any kind of filtration systems. They took the idea of the industrial revolution and scaled it up to China-proportions without acknowledging the fact that there have been some advances since then to not give everyone cancer.

But hey, it's one of the reasons why it's so cheap to manufacture there.

Been to Shanghai, China twice in my life (to visit relatives, since I'm Chinese).

Boy, did I hate it. Litter everywhere, ****** buses/subways, half-finished buildings, babies pissing/ ******** in the middle of the street, homeless people playing rubber bands stretched over tissue boxes, pests in restaurants; I don't ever want to go back, except for the food. Authentic Chinese food is way better than the oily **** here in America.

I remember always having asthma in China. When I returned to America, it was gone. ******* pollution there is ridiculous.

Not all of it is bad, though. The urbanized area: downtown Shanghai is really nice. Granted, there are still beggars, but that's no different from Las Vegas. The Oriental Pearl Tower was beautiful, and the stores are clean(er). The people strolling around are no less rude, though. Pushing/shoving you out of the way, hitting their children in public, talking on their phones (if you're Asian, you'll know that adults talk to other people by yelling).

I recommend 3/10.
