Star Wars in old school 80s-90s anime visuals is pretty damn neat. Probably just nostalgia from Gundam and Macross, but Scifi looks great in this kind of style.
I think real early on a lot of them were clones but as they die or become unfit for duty they were phased out with regular humans. Some of the 501st legion i know survived a long time even when the majority had become regular humans.
they started using conscripts/recruits by the time episode iv starts. also women stormtroopers, pilots, etc exist, but they're rare. you're not going to see more than 3 per legion.
I liked to see the Photon torpedoes jammed by the Interdictor-Class Cruiser but seeing all those bombers like mad dog-fighter jets gave me a bit of a headache
in-universe they began using conscripts sometime between Episodes 3 and 4 in addition to clones simply because they either couldn't produce enough clones to meet the demand or it was too expensive...or at least that's the official canon. Even then, even in the Old Republic days, not ALL Republic personnel were clones - besides the Jedi, a lot of non-clones served as officers, a couple of examples being Wilhuff Tarkin and Kendal Ozzel.
Now, in the old EU/Legends, the reason is because of an uprising by Kaminoan cloners about 7 years after the Clone Wars in which the Kaminoans used an army of Jango Fett clones to fight against the Imperial 501st Legion and were pretty much wiped out. After that point, clones were considered a liability since they could be programmed to have alternate loyalties, so the Empire began using conscripts.
None of the old game are considered canon anymore, including the Jedi Knight Series, Battlefront, Clone Commando, Kotor 1/2, Force Unleashed, etc. Pretty much any thing outside of the Movies, CGI Clone Wars show, and Star Wars: Rebels is non canon. But now that episode 7 is out, pretty much anything that is made from this point on is canon, although if you want to make something you have to get it approved by Disney so they can make sure it all fits together in their storyline.
Rakata prime is canon it might also be the site of the first jedi temple in this canon. . and it's anything made after april 2014, or ripped from the old canon, is canon
But isn't it that even if something that was legends is mentioned in Canon sources, that doesn't mean events that happened to them in Legends stories are true? IE even though Rakata Prime is canon, that only means Rakata prime exists in the Canon star wars universe, not that the events of Kotor1 necessarily happened. Or like how Delta Squad is canon because they had a Cameo in the Clone Wars show, but just because they showed up there doesn't make the events of Clone Commando canon.
MFW there hasn't been a Star Wars flight/space-sim game since 1999 *X-Wing Alliance* and most likely there never will be another one with modern graphics because they're far too complicated for the absolutely moronic main demographic (read: Call of Doody Doritos munching idiots) OR if anything it will also be launched for consoles which automatically means heavily dumbed down
+ EA has the rights for Star Wars games... Which I think was a terrible idea to give them the rights... BUT YEA! That will also make disney money! DFIJDIJDIF.
The Space Fighter Simulator Genre died in 1999. The last great game of the genre was Freespace 2. There really hasn't been a recovery for the Space Fighter Simulator Genre.
**kanatana used "*roll picture*"** **kanatana rolled image** Okay, I got so much wood watching that that I really oughta be considered a national forest.
Sadly that's not going to happen. EA managed to secure the exclusive right to the Star Wars franchise and isn't going to let anyone else have those rights any time soon.
