Admittedly I didn't watch this video all the way through because I think this guy sounds super cringey but from the 2 minutes I did watch I got this to say.
this whole business regarding 'because it's 2015' is stupid, not because it's a meaningless statement but because people completely ignore the meaning of the statement within the context how it's being used and have created a sort of band wagon hate train against the phrase for no real reason other than that they saw a meme making fun of it once.
Since these people seem to be a bit to retarded to understand basic language let me break down the meaning of the various 'uses' of 'it's 2015' shown in this.
The phrase 'it's 2015, it's time' is to say hey, this has been coming for a long time now more than a year and it's way past due.
For example
Me: you should throw away that milk that expired in 2010.
you: why not?
Me: It's 2015, it's time.
You: that's a retarded answer *chug chug slurp BLLLLLEEEEH*
the phrase 'because it's 2015' is to say, because we've made a lot of progress in the over the years and because it reflects the current state of the world. There's a lot of questions this answer DOES make a lot of sense for.
Why should two men be allowed to marry? 'Because it's 2015' in our modern society it's become a commonly accepted truth that people should be allowed to be accepted for who they are as long as they aren't hurting anyone else with it and homosexuality has been considered socially acceptable for several years.
Why should a woman be allowed to work? 'Because it's 2015' it's a commonly accepted truth that everyone should have equal rights and the freedom to succeed or fail based on your merits is one of those rights.
How do you know the world is round? 'Because it's 2015' It's been commonly accepted scientific knowledge for hundreds of years if not thousands throughout the world why the **** are you question this?
It's essentially just way of saying that's a stupid question because the nature of modern society.
You've got a problem with how people are using the phrase 'it's 2015' to justify everything and end all arguments? well I agree, that would be a real issue if that were the case. However, that's not the case. The only way you're able to make it nonsensical and a 'bad answer' is by changing the question after the fact.
Now I think Trudeau is a ******* idiot and I'll agree the way he's using 'because it's 2015' is actually pretty bad because it's essentially just a hype train response to this ******* band wagon. There definitely are bad ways to use this response but the response in and of itself is no where near as stupid as this guy is making it out to be.
I think you have missed the point , progressives use "it's 2015" as defense for every crazy thing they claim society needs. for example when they were asked why they made that petition to abolish freedom of speech and the 1st amendment. they just matter of factually responded "It's 2015 it's time" the crowd cheered and the question was never answered. - this is not a adequate explanation or defense of ideas , it's a ******** buzzword meant to deflection questions and avoid answering.
