what is going on here? i can't really tell

pitcher ducks cause the catcher is trying to throw to 2nd base. im guessing someone was trying to run regardless of if the batter hit the ball or not

yeah i got that part, but why does the catcher just hesitate and then spike then ball?

idk maybe the 2nd baseman wasn't in position to catch it and if he threw it it would of gone into the outfield. for whatever reason he was pulling the throw back and it slipped out of his hand as he was pulling back
