To be fair it doesnt matter how well trained or equipped an army is. Just remember the British Army, the best trained in the world, was beaten by a bunch of farmers with little to no combat or military experience

Aux armes, citoyens!
Formez vos bataillons!
Marchons! Marchons!
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons!

Lets just remember that those farmers were supported by the French, one of the super powers at the time and the majority of the British army were in Europe. The one that got beaten was a tiny proportion of the real force.

And the orcs had well over 10,000 at Helm's Deep alone. And that's not including the Wild Men of the North that were also at the battle. Against 300 men.

That's basically how it was in Gondor too, only even more enemies all the time. It doesn't matter if you're incredibly well trained and equipped if you're outnumbered 200 to one in every battle you enter.

British lost that because we had one of the worst Army at that point.
Fun fact. Due to the recruitment of so many malnutrition and sick people into the army that caused us to lose the Boer war, we invented the NHS which was yay.
Funner fact. The last fact was less fun and more just a fact

healthcare was pretty **** for both sides due to the time so i don't think it would be a major change how you look at things

So by worst you were referring to the health of the soldiers, not the training?

No...
The Boer War ended 1902, the NHS didn't come into effect until AFTER the second world war.
The poor state of potential recruits did lead to a number of welfare laws to be put in.. but not the universal NHS

I stand corrected

That had assistance from the French in training, weapons, naval power, and soldiers....

Better not be referring to the Boer war. If so your comparing a feudal style battle to guerilla war.
