We learned all this. And would you please stop using the pythagorean theorem as an example of something useless? That ****** actually surprisingly practical. Moreso than most math past the 7th grade. I've sure as hell gotten a lot more use out of it than stuff like limits or function analysis.

I see the point, but of all the things to complain about, the Pythagorean theorem, really?
It's not even hard or anything.

High school is supposed to make a well-rounded person out of you, not teach you how to live in a certain country. Though SOME coverage of those subjects would be nice.

You didn't learn what taxes were? What kind of retard ******* high school did you go to that has history classes that don't explain what taxes are?

We were taught these and more when I was in high school as a required class way back in the 70s. We also learned how to balance a check book, loans with simple and compounding interest, all about different types of life insurance, making and keeping to budgets. Just about every thing having to do with day to day life in current society.

I see this **** all the time and I went to 3 different highschool in my lifetime and they all taught this. The one about voting and **** is a mandatory Government class and it covers all its bases.

Funny thing is I needed to know pythagoras, I worked as a labourer and I had to set out site foundations. You know what I learned doing that job... **** architects, they can't set out building plans for **** !

-political things take a lifetime to learn.
-balancing bank account is basic math, and there is no right/wrong way to do it - you just have to set up a spreadsheet and keep track of expenditures and income
-taxes are best left to tax experts, as it can get quite tricky (especially with the language)
-if you know the Pythagorean theorem, then could be on your way to getting a physics or engineering degree and make **** tons of money and become a brilliant, educated person.

TLDR: don't underestimate what you learned in school and don't just be happy working at McDonald's where the hardest thing you'll ever do is calculate someone's change in your head

My American Gov. Teacher gave all the 18 year olds in his class the register to vote application thingy and helped them with it.

"What taxes are" Is it just me or are you an idiot if you can't figure that out? Unless it's talking specifically about where your taxes go which changes so often its easier just to look a budget breakdowns
#24 - zaperzero (06/22/2014) [-]
I learned all of those except for how to vote. I didn't learn that. I'm currently in school, so as a little kid faggot I should know this **** . Here are Mountain Dew Cheetos to prove my legitimacy.

'How to do taxes' --> In the US, taxes are insanely complicated. Sure you can log onto some website, type in the numbers and pray it works out - but the truth is you are still liable for any mistakes. Actually understanding the tax laws is really, really, really hard and there isn't a 1-800 number at the IRS you can just call and ask for help.
