never understood that batman logic, batman doesnt kill yet all the goons who fail to kill batman are going to get killed by their superiors anyways, or i guess he just doesnt care as long as he doesnt kill them himself
He's all about being a symbol to the city. The fact that he doesn't kill people himself might make him seem more of a symbol of good rather than a symbol of revenge.
It's just flawed logic. I think at least sometimes it's meant to be portrayed that way, but there's also times where it's supposed to be a seriously good thing.
To be honest, the whole "Batman doesn't kill" thing is just to make himself feel better. Realistically, he's allowed hundreds at least, likely thousands to die at the hands of Joker, Killer Croc, and that sort because of it.
Later on, yeah, he's pretty much sick of the Joker's **** , sure. But, even then, his goal is to make everyone around him better people by example, so sacrificing his principles, even to kill monsters, contradicts that goal. And, yes, he's in a position to stop them from killing, and he does so by knocking them the **** out, but then lets the courts decide from there.
What's more, Batman is afraid that if he allowed himself to justify killing one of his villains, he wouldn't be able to stop using that same metric to justify killing all of them, and anybody else who gets in his way. His mercy has proven to be the right path, regardless, as numerous members of his mythos, like Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Penguin have all gone straight at one time or another.
