If Jesus jumped off a cliff, following stories told by the same people that told about his deeds, turning water to white, walking on water etc. then maybe they'd just say he grew wings or some ****... Moha mad would just break his legs, or make a pool of blood.

Saying "Alright, bro" is what I would most certainly call "being a dick about it."

In all honesty, I don't see how you being an idiot can be subjective. An idiot is a stupid or mentally handicapped person. If you fit this criteria, then you are an idiot. It's that simple. It's not an opinion. It's either true, or not. Not everything you dislike is an opinion.

Not at all. You being stupid is not an opinion, but an evaluation of your mental capabilities. You not being able to answer more than "Alright, bro" makes you an idiot.

You are right, by the way. My incessant calls of your idiocy are what would term me an asshole. Instead of arguing for subjectivity, I shall conduct my argument in a less elusive manner. I prefer to say that I am not an asshole, for all I am doing is saying the truth/a fact. Am I an asshole for saying the truth? Does saying the truth make you an asshole? I don't believe it does. Even if your stupidity were an opinion, I would still not be an asshole. Unless, of course, voicing opinions can turn you into an asshole, that is...

Voicing offensive opinions can make you seem like an asshole. I'm glad you have somehow managed to evaluate my entire mental capacity based on less than a thousand words, however. But my original point is what I believe. You can't change that and I can't change what you believe either, nor will I try. Neither of us are right, and neither of us are wrong either. From what I understand critical judgement is one thing that humans have the hardest time with. We being sentient as we are, are incapable of pure intellectual decisions, as we are by nature emotional.

I had thought about this for a while, and originally I had believed that we would need to broaden our minds to the world, and accept all aspects of life. On the other hand I saw that this would cause us to lose that inherent strife, brought on by debate and disagreements with separate view points, which is also quite necessary for our minds to develop as a young race. I had then realized that these are two sides of the same issue. If either of these are rooted in emotion it causes our minds to slowly wither, and we force ourselves into a barbaric hustle of blood and war.

The thorn in the side of intellect is emotion. So maybe the question is not how do we get critical judgement from things we experience, but how to balance out emotion so it doesn't mask our judgement? We need both the ability to fight for what we view, and the ability to accept and learn what others view (although we may disagree with them), and develop ourselves from that. We need both chaos and harmony to develop ourselves. The yin and the yang so to speak.

To answer your question, I would imagine what your suggestions would do is help develop the mind thoroughly through the aspect of pursuing an interest. In the end to fully gain critical judgement however, we would need to develop our ability to distance emotion from our objective view of the surroundings. This does not mean that its impossible for us to debate, or discuss things though, as like you said, everything can be fine on an intellectual level.

Note I don't find emotion to be wrong, it can be amazing at times, however to develop our minds, we must distance emotion from our rational thought or it may cause road blocks in our pursuit of deeper critical judgement.

I understand your position on tolerance now more than ever, I just love asking questions, I believe its another great way of learning. What's the point of just partially grasping someones views and then walking away? You would only ever learn the half truth or some minuscule fraction. Especially when someone is intelligent and willing enough to explain deeply. It makes things so much more interesting. I assumed you meant tolerate in all aspects, not just intellectually, so it caused me to wonder why what exactly you meant. Some things just weren't lining up till now.
Though I still disagree that was factual statement, however it is a fact that he said something that someone may deem idiotic, so in turn he can be viewed as an idiot himself. The reason I disagree is simply that one stupid act does not make the entirety of a persons character idiotic. However this has lead me to many disappointing outcomes in my life, so I could understand where you're coming from.
Your communication skills aren't lacking, but I do like to figure things out, and you have given me that. This conversation was definitely informative and I whole heartily enjoyed it, for that I thank you.

I see. You do very well and I wholeheartedly agree: someone's point of view ought to be seized in its entirety.

I'm sorry if I insulted you, buddy. You are indeed an intelligent and very nice person.

In my opinion, everything should be fine on an intellectual level as long as one possesses good critical judgment. How do you get critical judgment? I am not entirely sure yet, but here are my suggestions:

The reading of philosophy, which leads to a thoughtful position when dealing with the world; the reading of literature/hearing of theater/viewing of cinema, which leads to the broadening of one's moral viewpoint (through the consumption of different facets and perplexities of individual moral thinking) on the moral question "How to live a good life?"; moderating physical pleasure (not drinking, smoking or eating too much); opening one's sensitivity to beauty (especially that which is created by humankind in the forms of art and music); and trying to find harmony with life in the pursuit of happiness and love (coincidentally (not really...) the main inherent themes of good narratives).

Now, this is rather abstract, but I am sure you get the point.

What do you think, friend?

Unfortunately I can't reply to your last statement because of limitations on this site. I took the time to write out such a long response, rather than a short, yet complete statement, because arguments are less entertaining when there are less words, as there are less things you can pick to debate about. Topics begin to get stale when people simply devolve to the childish "I'm right, you're wrong" mooting, and I recognize that's due to the fact people are stubborn and generally unwilling to accept different trains of thought. I like to keep the conversation going, so I may go back and choose another subject eventually. I call you a troll, simply because you followed the common suit of writhing out emotion from the person you targeted, to inhibit a response, and spark a rebuttal, hence calling sir procrasturbate (I did it) an idiot. In common terms that would be trolling, but most do it because they simply want to get a reaction out of people, you seemed to want to do it because you were hoping for a real philosophical debate (though this is just an assumption). This is the reason why I respect your ways. I completely agree that without scrutiny and skepticism, or some sort of strife, we as a people become stagnant and bored, and are no longer able to develop as intended. However I generally disagree with your methods of starting such debates. Though your methods got us here, so there is that.
What is more of a bother to you I wonder, people you deem stupid attempting to argue with you, or people who tolerate you even though you called them an idiot?

I meant intellectual tolerance. In one sentence, Voltaire said it best: "I hate what you are saying, yet I will fight to the death for your right to say it." We simply need to always criticize each other.

So, my answer to your last question is: the former. If I deem someone stupid, I would rather them desist further argumentation with me (like procrasturbate did (he's a nice person despite his extreme stupidity)). I would not expect someone to tolerate me morally or emotionally when I call them an idiot, though.

If you read our comments, you would rather realize I actually called procrasturbate an idiot as a statement of fact. I simply commented "You are an idiot" in reply to his vacuous "Alright, bro." I did not intend to start a debate, I only wanted him to know a fact I had observed concerning his mental status.

I am starting to doubt my communication skills, as you and the idiot seem to have a great deal of trouble in understanding my position on tolerance. Am I the bad communicator, or are you both stupid?

You're a troll, yet you troll in such a way it causes your victim to actually use their think lobe for a minute or two. I respect that. However, I must say, truth is often harsh, being harsh can make people view you as an asshole, no? However truth may also be subjective, because what you view as truth, what someone else views as truth, and what is actually truth in an objective standpoint is completely different. Unfortunately from a third party perspective I can't say you have the evidence to support your claim that sir procrasturbate is, in fact, undeniably, an idiot, from his two words. So that would make your view of truth, in the end, subjective, as there is no backing to it.
I agree that tolerance can be condescending, however without tolerance there may be conflict, does that mean you believe that we have to have conflict to evolve? Ergo, the good old view natural selection is still necessary. Should we not tolerate, but accept one an other, would that be more developed form of human evolution? Because that makes perfect sense, as far as the human race goes.

To answer what I take to be the only worthwhile question in your whole paragraph: yes, philosophical thought needs conflict to evolve. Life is an extremely complex thing and we need as much scrutiny and skepticism we can gather to fact-check everything we believe. If we cannot serve it to ourselves, I believe we should trust others to offer their criticisms to us. That is what I believe to be true respect, and that is why tolerance is condescending.

I must say that I don't expect a very intelligent reply from you as you first called me a troll and, subsequently, took pains over earnestly answering my argument. This is yet another behavior that grazes idiocy.

At least 4chan made it's name entirely based on it. I expected places like this to be nicer, more compassionate. But nope, anything remotely pone related immediately gets shut down like a Fox tv series, even when it's relevant to the post.

I'm not much for the whole Grand Scheme idea. I think that humanity exists for the sake of existence. Also, not very religious. Agnostic seems to be the one for me, if I had to pick.
