Why does everyone assume art should be judged by how difficult it is to make? That more than anything is just a sign of ignorance.

WRONG

art is experienced - it's in the eye of the beholder. A talented realist painter can paint realistically, but a talented artist can create art that has the power to move grown men to tear, to bring healing to the brokenhearted, to give hope to the destitute and to incite creativity in the lustless.

Just because someone spent their entire life learning to paint realistically and then painted something realistically doesn't mean it can't have more artistic value than someone who was able to be so in tune with their own emotions and artistic vision that they were able to present to me a work of art that moves me like nothing else.

To each his own. Art is experiential and subjective.

Go to hell, faget.

People need to understand that art is not only a manifestation of the trade skill of the artist i.e a painter with his painting skill. The general interwebz has no idea what good art is.

nono, its because nowadays people are giving art some deep, inner meaning that supposedly is more important than the skill of artmaking. that, over the years, made it okay to just goof of with some paint and present it as art

I would have posted an explanation for why the blue painting is worth more but you guys won't understand, art majors know what I mean

art is mainly sold because of the way it makes the observer feel or think, the realistic painting is... realistic, but it doesnt add anything to the atmosphere of a room. if im going to buy an artwork it really has to have some sort of emotion attached to it, and realistic artworks just dont do that,

sometimes just clever use of colours and tones is all it takes to create strong emotion in an artwork

Frankly, if I had 43.8 million extra lying around and both of the paintings cost as, I'd rather take the blue thing. That's a very nice shade of blue.

Now you're just making me blush. I feel so important and remarkable person right now, since the stagnation of art culture is my fault because I throw my imaginary millions at a painting that happens to appeal to me aesthetically instead of tossing my (equally imaginary) pennies at posters from DeviantArt.

But let's get real. Nobody get's to define what's art and what isn't.

This is why i hate modern art. Not just modern art but the people who defend modern art. Oh you just don't understand it or you have no right to define it. It's stupid people will draw any old **** and claim it has meaning. Or just have an idea what it could be and then draw something that in no way represents it then try and make it have meaning. I saw a video of a woman ******** eggs with paint in them out of her foo foo in public. What the **** ! that literally has no meaning whatsoever it's just edgy **** . But people will defend it.
User avatar #95 - konradkurze (05/11/2014) [-]
real art: the painter spends months or years to perfectly capture their feelings in the canvas

modern art: people on some ******* solid drugs throw the paint can at the canvas and call it a masterpiece

seriously i could grab random objects out of a trashcan, arrange them nicely, and call it modern art
