you know, i can't tell if people here actually support trump or are just joking around, and that terrifies me.

He's a meme who speaks to the minds of people who haven't ever gone out to talk to different kinds of people. The kind of people who are rampantly effected by group think.

There is honestly nothing to be terrified about. Even in the unlikely event that he gets elected there is little chance of him even accomplishing the stuff he claims to want to do.

I'm more interested in what it means for the republican party with him being their major front runner. They don't want him there, but their party base does. It seems likely that they might fracture.
User avatar #59 to #6 - huszti (01/06/2016) [-]
i actually support him so the joking continues.
#49 to #6 - asddsaasddsaasdasd (01/06/2016) [-]
Honestly why not?
He seems like the more reasonable option than the other two for sure plus he pisses off modern day liberals and SJW so he must be doing something good.

Discrimination against islam if a must if we are ever going to get rid of such an ugly religion that causes only extremism, promotes sexual inequality, stoning and other such things. If islam itself wasn't the source of the problem then extremism would have been taken care of long ago.

And I still never got an explanation as to what is bad about deporting people that don't cross the border legally.

Who else is there to vote? hillary? If Hilallary comes into office say goodby to the US.
Or Bernie " I am not a communist but most of my values and ideas are communist in nature " " Sanders , also known as mister give me free **** and i give you free **** allthough none of it is free.
Or Ted Cruz is somewhat a Trump wannabe.
Or the gnome Rant Paul who has little of value and the majority of his ideas are less realistic than Trumps could ever be?

Who else is there to vote? You may disagree with Trump but he is not only the lesser Evil but also someone is at least honest in what wants and what he is saying.
Besides that it is a nice pusback against that whole leftiest authoratarian ******** that is going right now in the World and especially the US.

>people support trump and that terrifies me
I see this parroted so much and no one can explain why without throwing buzzwords around like racist, Hitler, or stupid. I'm not the biggest Trump supporter but the people against him are literally grasping at straws.
User avatar #71 to #50 - thesecretbear (01/06/2016) [-]
>Trump will save us from the SJWs and political correctness.

I've seen that parroted quite a lot too. In fact most of the internet support surrounding Trump looks like it was taken directly from a /pol/ thread.

I see nothing of talk about his true plans.
"Deport Mexicans." Okay cool, there goes a good portion of our cheap labor force in the south west.
"Stop Muslims from coming." - There will literally be little to no difference in this. It is just a different take on our isolationist ideas.
Honestly, that's all I've heard people talk about with his plans.
User avatar #72 to #71 - creamymcgee (01/06/2016) [-]
You've clearly never actually read into his plans and are just going off what people talk about on the internet then.
User avatar #73 to #72 - thesecretbear (01/06/2016) [-]
Yes, yes I am. But I tend to judge on whether or not to look into a candidate this early in the race based on what their early supporters talk about. Considering my voice has little sway as of yet.

That is why i'm actually asking you about his real plans. Because at this point i'm convinced he is truly a /pol/ meme with a bunch of redneck supporters. So please. Fill me in on his plans.
User avatar #74 to #73 - creamymcgee (01/06/2016) [-]
This is his platform, www.ontheissues.org/Donald_Trump.htm

Literally takes 2 seconds on google to pull up his platform that is way more accurate for his plans than I would be. After all, I'm not on the Trump train unless it comes down to him vs Hillary or Bernie.
User avatar #75 to #74 - creamymcgee (01/06/2016) [-]
To add to this, rather than listening to other people, you should look at all the major candidates platforms and educate yourself on what their plans are.
User avatar #76 to #75 - thesecretbear (01/06/2016) [-]
I was planning on that. I don't tend to like to look into things until I have too. I'm a lazy **** .

Still better than most of the country who just doesn't vote, or doesn't look into things ever.

Republican party needs to do better. Trump Wall is such an obvious failure, and yet he is their favorite.

- Wall won't stop drones with drugs flying over it.

- Wall won't stop very-low-signature submarines with drugs taking the coastal route.
(These could presumably be used for human trafficking in future.)

- Wall won't stop tunnels built underneath or even through it.

Mate, the wall is more of a metaphor for better border control. Trump wants better border security, building a wall is a good start but thats not where security will end.
#90 to #89 - ifinallyregistered (01/06/2016) [-]
It's not a metaphor, he has given Israels wall as an example. Which 6,000 get past every month. It would be much more on a much bigger border.

(I usually ignore opinion sections, but this one is factual rather than a rant)
#91 to #90 - creamymcgee (01/06/2016) [-]
Whats up with this?
User avatar #94 to #93 - creamymcgee (01/06/2016) [-]
They bring up a good point but the same time the Israeli wall has some distinct differences from Trump's proposed wall plan. There is no doubt that getting his dream wall built would have some serious hurdles. It's also hard to say how effective the wall and border security would be without the built yet. Its one of those things that I can't criticize with certainty until it actually exists.

Besides the wall there is other reasons to vote for him in the end. His platform isn't solely built around the proposed wall after all.

I always assumed the wall was more of a metaphor because of how difficult it would be to create a wall like that anyways. I assumed it was mostly going to be much tighter border security rather than a complete wall across the border.
#95 to #94 - ifinallyregistered (01/06/2016) [-]
The differences won't stop drones & subs. Forcing tunnels deeper could actually backfire, if it makes them harder to detect.

Trumps platform is indeed more than just the wall, but taking a "dismiss the weakest, scrutinize the strongest" approach, the wall is a major weakness.

Republican favorite should be up-staging Democrats, not handing them a weakness to exploit.

Let's face it, people. Trump's popularity is already declining, and the sensationalism bandwagon he's riding on is going to run out of steam one way or another. The only reason he's stuck around this long is because the media wants to keep him topical because it's great for ratings. There's so much ammunition anyone with some research or longterm memory recollection you can use to put on this guy on ice, but you won't see any of it on the news or sites like this because their prerogative is to stir up controversy. He lacks the satire of one, but make no mistake that he is a class clown. I know it's probably fun for some of you who are getting caught up in all of this, but I can guarantee you it's not going to lead to anything just like the last three times he pulled this stunt.

>his dad handed him everything

nice meme, friend.

*Trump inherited an estimated $40 million to $200 million

According to this calculator, someone invested in S&P500 would get a return of 1600% from 1980 to 2015. dqydj.net/sp-500-return-calculator/

Even using the high estimate of $200 M, he'd end up with only $3.2 Billion, compared to his current net worth of $4Billion. And he did this in construction companies, not wall street schemes. A low estimate would be $640 Million.

People like to talk about his failures and bankruptcies as if that never happens in business. 80% of all businesses fail. Investors know the risks when investing. Even if 80% of Trump's businesses failed he'd simply be an average business owner.

what about his enthusiastic support of corrupting politicians with bribes massive campaign contributions in order to convince said politicians to vote against the interests and desires of their electorates? or how he openly admits to this corruption and having engaged in it with most of the other republican candidates? or his blatantly racist "anti muslim" policies that dont mesh with his strong ties to saudi arabia, and his vocalized support of saudi arabia? (a country run by islamic radicals who behead people for sorcery and the like). perhaps we could hear your apology of his plan to "make mexico pay for a wall"? how is he going to do that without declaring war on a NATO ally? what about the fact that every other time hes run for president, he runs a cheap campaign with little to no paid advertising, and then laughs to the bank as he keeps all the campaign contributions for himself? perhaps youd like to defend his debate strategy, which seems to be "speak, even when not spoken to. if possible, attack your opponent with ad hominems, conduct yourself like a child, and offer no answers with substance, and instead fill the mic with buzzwords"?

when trumps supporters realize they just got stumped, theyll wish they had actually sat down and thought about things. he has little to no grasp of what it means to be a regular citizen. hes never had to struggle for a thing. sure, he makes money, but in our financial system, the guys who start off with the most money end up with the most money. he thinks a million dollars is a small loan, even though thats more than most people alive will make in their lifetime. he had an exorbitantly wealthy father waiting in the wings to bail him out any time he ****** up, he bankrupted 4 companies and somehow turned a profit off of said companies as the employees were kicked to the curb, and thats the guy you want running the largest economy in the world? a man who has proven a thousand times over that he has no sense of perspective, no respect for his fellow man, and whos only goal in life is to make more money, whatever the human cost? you want to elect a man that supports a drone program that kills 9 civilians for every target, supports torture "even if it doesnt work", and whos military plan for the situation in the middle east is "if its brown, gun it down?" if he were elected president, he and his toupe (a sign of incredible vanity and an inability to accept criticism or changes outside of his control) can be the one man american isis.

you go on ahead and defend this textbook definition of corruption and hypocrisy, and then remember that if he wins the nomination, and if you vote for him, your vote wont count anyways.

I am no US american so i have a serious question and please be kind because i am trying to understand the US point of view .
Why would Trump be better than Bernie?

We both agree that Hilary would be a bad choice. Lying and getting away with it and all
But haven't we seen and known that Bernie is actually a politican yes, somewhat cuck and super leftie but still and therefore should know how to compromise atleast to a certain degree.
IMHO Trump is JUST a businessman, he seems pretty entitled and probably doesn't know what and how a president actually works. My biggest hypothetical concern with him is that he wouldn't compromise in any way and therefore stunts every process in which the president is included.

To be honest most other candidates sound even better than Trump, because they aren't newbies to the whole politican thing.

Please explain why Trump would actually be better than any other candidate.

I actually watched some invterview back in the 80's with Trump. He has similiar ideas back then as well but way more mild. I'm from Sweden and socialism has worked very well for the general population and I'm grateful since I'm starting College soon. (Which won't make me broke). I'm no expert in economics Neither is Bernie hue hue hue but I'm really curious if someone could shed some light on this subject.

After reading through my text I thought I'd mention that I'm not very politically active and I'd like not to get roasted if I said something off.
