you are a captain and a princess
I can't tell if that means you outrank me or not

I outrank you.
Even if your rank higher than captain, which might vary depending on what branch the rank is. I think a naval captain is higher than an infantry captain.

But even so, my rank is bolstered by my royal status. I am not just a captain, I am the heir to the throne. Captain of my own Navy.

unless...unless
I am a princess of a principality
which means I am really the head of state and not heir

I think the head of a state would be a lower status than heir to a monarchy.
In this case though you might then outrank me, temporarily, for I will eventually ascend to queenhood.

I'll take it
I'll take it

HOWEVER, I must stipulate

This only counts if you are also of equal or higher military rank to Captain, aswell.
Otherwise, my captaincy combines with my princesshood, I think.

It does in my kingdom anyway.

She is being exemplified to discourage others from following suit. It's good flock control.

There's a difference between speaking your mind and making threats.
User avatar #24 to #23 - darthblam ONLINE (08/16/2014) [-]
And even if it isn't an actually believable threat, it's still a threat that she obviously tried to make sound serious enough for the police to be alerted.
So **** you are your "sheep" ******** .
People like you that bitch about "the big bad omnipotent government of evil" disgust me.

(a) Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

This includes kids acting tough on the internet.

I said give me an instance of a CHILD getting fined or imprisoned under this, since you had to specifically mention that "this includes kids acting tough on the internet."
What you gave me are two examples of MEN getting these punishments.
Two men being reckless and idiotic, just like the person in the content most likely was.

stating a threat to someone is not speaking your mind, saying you're going to kill someone is not an opinion. if i knocked on your front door and said im going to kill your family tonight, how do you know if I actually have the capability or not. you're just going to assume everything everyone says is just them speaking their mind? you're a one dumb ************
User avatar #36 to #32 - darthblam ONLINE (08/17/2014) [-]
Arguing with asshats like this isn't even worth it.
Especially konrad, that white supremacist nutcase is just ridiculous.
I had to deal with a physics teacher in high school with this exact same mentality, a paranoid and pathetic state where he thought the government was out to get him and had eyes, ears, and hands everywhere, like it was God himself, and completely devoid of all humanity.

Its nothing to do with "being edgy" its to do with the fact it pisses me off when people who are perfect examples of how ignorant people are going on about how people who call people sheep are idiots or what ever when they are a sheep them selves.

Making arrests.
To deter others from saying things.
This doesn't scream "Police State Imminent" to anyone?
#14 to #10 - blancka (08/16/2014) [-]
You act like this is new.

Freedom of speech ends when it starts to cross the line of peace of mind. It always has. There's a reason you can't just go "lol freedom of speech" when questioned by police or when in court and your story doesn't hold up.
User avatar #20 to #14 - captainprincess ONLINE (08/16/2014) [-]
Then I suggest America stop harping on about freedom.
Freedom clearly doesn't matter all that much.
#21 to #20 - blancka (08/16/2014) [-]
You're confusing freedom with a complete lack of society.
User avatar #22 to #21 - captainprincess ONLINE (08/16/2014) [-]
COMPLETE lack of society
...due to people being allowed to SAY whatever they want?

THAT'S a little paranoid
#30 to #22 - blancka (08/16/2014) [-]
No, people can say what they want. But they can also be accountable for their words.

If someone threatens to kill you the law shouldn't protect them under freedom of speech until they actually attack you. That would be ridiculous. Prevention is the best medicine.

It's not like the world is some orwellian society where you can't say something the government disagree's with. There's plenty of obama hate and the like to go around, and as a general rule, freedom of speech applies unless you are either potentially harmful to others, under oath (I.E. In court) or under an NDA contract.
User avatar #31 to #30 - captainprincess ONLINE (08/16/2014) [-]
A civilian
Threatening to kill the president

What with the level of protection he has?
She's not potentially harmful to him at all
She's being used to make an example
And THAT is where **** gets *****

In any case, long as America keeps banging on about freedom, this **** is going to look pretty ***** to the world who has to hear "FREEDOM FREEDOM FREEDOM" all the time see.

So maybe America should shut up with the freedom **** 'cause clearly, it ain't #1 priority.
#34 to #31 - blancka (08/16/2014) [-]
A threat is a threat. Tell me, what does an assassin look like? Cuz they sure as hell ain't in no sam fisher gear.

Yes, this person was of no threat. Yes, they are being used to make an example, but that's how these things work. You can't pass off people as harmless based on stupid things like this. They can say they hate obama, they can say they hope he burns in hell, they can say they hope someone kills him, but the second they make a threat to kill anyone they've broken the law. Simple as that. Changing rules based on who breaks them is just profiling.
#33 to #22 - Imabur (08/16/2014) [-]
so by your logic i can walk up to you and tell you to your face that im going to rape your mom, and that would be okay? because, you know, i'm just saying something....
User avatar #51 to #33 - captainprincess ONLINE (08/17/2014) [-]
Well it's not like I'd try to have you arrested for it at any rate
User avatar #11 to #10 - princessren (08/16/2014) [-]
depends what she did
I mean free speech doesn't cover everything
you can;t yell fire in a movie theater or bomb on an airplane
if you were mad at obama for some reason and went on facebook and made a status about how you want to kill him I am not gonna feel bad when the secret service investigates.
Although I seriously doubt she is a threat and shouldn't be held for longer then it takes to tell whether she is...which shouldn't be long
#13 to #11 - John Cena (08/16/2014) [-]
Here's the thing
"Free" speech has a long list of exceptions
It doesn't cover death threats or hate speech.
